Oh, heroes of those stories are good at nothing. They're bland average characters, sometimes below average, perfect self insert types of blank slates. So don't worry about being good at being a hero. Perhaps the more incompetent you are the better.

As for getting home, more information is needed. Though, I don't have much back home anyway, so I don't mind waiting.
