gabranth || final fantasy xii

A. RETRIEVAL

[ to be so near the brink of death in one moment, and so far from it in the next... at first, gabranth honestly isn't sure that he hasn't passed it entirely; the interior of this airship is so different from the strahl that he almost thinks it a fevered delusion, a vision conjured by his dying mind. but the vision does not fade, and neither does the sensation in his limbs, nor anything else about him.

somehow, improbably, he is not dead.

he sits upright on his cot, blood-soaked leathers and all, and ponders that fact. he remains there as he ponders the improbability of it, tries to make sense of all that's happening around him, listens in to the people chatting and milling about nearby. at some point, he's going to have to get up and look into the whereabouts of his swords and armor. for now, though... his body might be healed but his wounds are still fresh in his mind, and so too is the question of why he continues to be alive. ]

F. SIDEQUESTS

[ right. now that gabranth has been in this world long enough to learn a few things about it — perhaps most importantly that he won't be going back to ivalice, at least not anytime soon — he supposes that the only thing for him to do is to start fitting into it.

he also supposes that the best way for him to do that is to make himself useful. as a result, he's wasted no time between enlisting in the paladin's guild, finding the nearest job that needs doing, and heading straight off into the wilds with whichever hapless adventurer happened to have also signed up for this particular quest. collect a bundle of coeurl whiskers... simple enough, he thinks. but that likely depends more on his companion than anything else. ]

You do have some martial experience, yes?

[ it's a practical question, plain and simple. he's never been one for small talk, after all. ]
