Hope Estheim | Final Fantasy XIII | will match on prose!

A. Retrieval.

Hope did not expect to wake up in a cot with several other people he didn't recognize. Last he remembered, he and his friends were going into crystal stasis, their Focus fulfilled. And yet, here he was. Very much not a crystal and in a place he knew couldn't be Cocoon or Pulse. He looked at his arm, pulling back the wristband to get a better look. His frozen brand was still there, it looked just like Fang's. But it was frozen, which meant that, for now, he didn't have to worry about the time limit, if there even was one anymore.

He set the yellow cloth back in its place, where only part of the brand peeked out, and Hope slid of the cot to make his way around the place. He didn't know what to expect, who to meet, but maybe one of these people were his friends? He held his arm as he made his way around, clearly unsure, a bit lost, and not a little scared about this new predicament he was in.

B. Curti Center.

He wanted to cry. Mostly in frustration. Why him? Why were all these bad things happening to him? Hope had come a long way from the boy he was when the l'Cie business started. But it was just like his journey, he just couldn't catch a break! And now he was somehow on another world and expected to make this his new home? Was his dad even alive? Were the others here or stuck in crystal stasis? He was overcome with worry and frustration and he clutched the pamphlets and maps and information he was given. He knew he would need it later, but for right now, Hope just stood off to the side and struggled to not cry.

'It's not a question can or can't,' He could hear Lightning say. 'There are just some things in life you just do.'

It allowed him to pause and center himself, to take a deep breath. It's what got him through his journey, to see their Focus to the end. Hope would just need to see this through as well. He had to believe he could.

He unclenched the papers and held them before him. But where to even start?

C. Up in the Sky.

With so many guilds and professions to choose from, Hope wasn't sure. He was also only fourteen. Was there an age limit? Did he need to finish his schooling first? That's what he would have done were he home and not a crystal. He sighed as he leaned against the rail of the airship, his bag full of papers and essentials that he'd been given. He tapped the tip of his shoe against the wood as he struggled to figure out his next step. He supposed he could have stayed at the Curti Center, and that was always an option, but he also just... wanted to know more.

"All the time in the world and I have no idea how to spend it," He murmured to himself. He was headed to Arito, first. But after that, where to? What would he do? What should he do?

G. Get a Job (The Other Kind).

"Oh!" Hope blinked at his iMog Slate, finger pausing in his scrolling as he looked for employment opportunities. So there is schooling! The oldest you could be was 17 it looked like, so Hope would be able to fit in that bracket. Housing was provided too. He had been looking at two others, mostly working either on repairing the technology here or working in the library. But he'd been unsure if he was old enough or not. He could always ask, of course, but schooling... "I shouldn't really give up my studies just because I'm in a new world..."

He leaned back in his seat, lightly kicking his feet as he set the slate down on his lap, looking up at the sky in thought. On one hand, certain things would be paid for. On the other, he wouldn't be earning any money in the mean time. He had no parents here to take care of that while he was in school. Hope was a child on his own for now. He had learned to fend for himself in a way before, but this was an entirely different journey now.

Wildcard.
