Connie has a very similar opinion of Futaba as Futaba has of Connie. Although Steven was nice for a pick-me-up and they were very much on the same wavelength for a lot of things, he could never really "get" a lot of her problems. Empathy can only go so far. So having somebody she can relate to on that level is HUGE to Connie.

Likewise, while Connie doesn't idolize Futaba, she does... look up to her, in a sense? Not exactly in a big sister way, but more like, "holy wow my best friend is super cool." And the fact that she's also driven to find out why they're on Vaikuntha and how to get back really improves Connie's opinion of Futaba in this situation. Although with the way their memory is going, things might get a tad... iffy... since there's a good chance Connie is going to flub this up and not be able to rescue Futaba, which will make her feel SUPER GUILTY and be unable to look her in the eye for a little while.
