TEST DRIVE MEME

A. RETRIEVAL

Dreams fade slowly, and awareness returns in increments. The hum of machinery, the smell of recycled air, the murmurs of others waking up around you.

The interior of the ship has been outfitted with cots for those Biggs and Wedge retrieve from the Dream Width. Outside of the makeshift infirmary, windows set into the walls of the worn lounge area offer a view of space.

It’s time to meet your fellow new arrivals who have been brought together on Biggs and Wedge’s airship. None of you know how you came to be here or where you are going, and the door to the cockpit is locked as the pilots focus on navigating the treacherous obstacles of the Dream Width. You might as well take this moment to introduce yourself to your fellow travelers.

B. CURTI CENTER

There’s an almost overwhelming aura of excitement in the tower as researchers rush to document this unprecedented number of interdimensional travelers. Over the commotion, the leaders of the Center struggle to explain, ‘Welcome to Vaikuntha. We don’t know why you’ve been brought here, but this is your new home.’

The staff will do their best to help the off-worlders settle in. They answer the questions they can, provide maps and pamphlets about the world and the destinations within it, and even guide the arrivals to a neighborhood where housing has been provided for you. Yes, due to the strange influx of arrivals, you’ll be expected to share, but the Curti staff are doing the best they can under the circumstances.

Experiences like these bring people together. Perhaps you are the only one here from your world, but at least you are not alone in this experience. Others are right beside you, learning the same information, planning trips to visit the same new cities, checking out these Job things, and settling in to their new (temporary) homes.

C. UP IN THE SKY

There’s a whole new world to explore. It’s almost enough to distract from the fact that there’s one place you can’t go- home.

You are on an Airship, the main mode of transportation between the major cities of Vaikuntha. While the majority are owned by airlines, perhaps you hitched a ride with a friend that has their own. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

D. GUILDS

Proud representatives of the Guild are lined up, ready to demonstrate their skills for the new initiates. Make sure to stay behind the designated line, this might get dangerous.

So you want a new Job? You'll have to first travel to the Guilds, sign the papers, go through the orientation and introductory lectures, and get basic training. Afterwards, you can freely chat and practice with your fellow members, celebrating your new powers, and checking out your new wardrobe.

E. LET'S BE ADVENTURERS

Separated from all of your material possessions, connections, and everything you know, and really, what you’re left with is time. Better try to make the most of it.

Enough expository banter. It's explorin' time. Maybe instead of spending every day in your room, you'd rather spend it living it up in the city of Lavode, or betting on Chocobo Races in Sparks Goldsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the caves and ruins near Arito. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!

F. SIDEQUESTS

Maybe you’re telling yourself, ‘I didn’t sign up for this.’ But wait, you did. At least it pays.

It all started when you checked the Quest Board.  All you wanted was a few gil to spend, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or you could be asked to be janitor for a week. Consider yourself lucky though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

G. GET A JOB (THE OTHER KIND)

You’ve got a Job, but Claire keeps sighing and muttering about layabout space-people not earning their keep, so it might be time to seek out Employment as well.

There are plenty of opportunities to earn some gil in Vaikuntha, no matter where you choose to settle down. Your iMog slate includes listing for employment opportunities. Hopefully you can find something you can live with so that you can start saving up for an airship or the security payment for your permanent housing.

H. MOGNET

*Ding!* You’ve got Mog-Mail!

Thankfully, you can instantaneously chat with your friends around the world thanks to you iMog Slate. And unlike old-fashioned Moogle Letters, you can even send messages to everyone in a blink of an eye! However, despite the change in technology, the old tradition of Mognet Strikes have never gone away. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public boards or risk message corruption and mishandling.

I. RANDOM ENCOUNTER

The ground trembles, and out of nowhere, something hostile appears! Is that battle music playing?

You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Will you try to fight on your own or seek help? And remember, you die in random battle, you die FOR REAL. There’s no shame from running from enemies that are a higher level than you!

An Introduction

[personal profile] conniemaheswaran 2018-03-17 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
PROMPT A
[A young human girl with dark brown skin and a short, fluffy bob of black hair tosses and turns in her cot, mumbling something about killer bird blobs. Her eyes snap open and she sits straight up, head whipping violently back and forth as she takes in her new surroundings.]

Huh? How- what hap- where am I?

[Shaking her head, Connie tumbles free of the cot. She's wearing a dark leather aviator's jacket over a cerulean tee, her blue jeans rolled up slightly to leave some room for her sensible red sneakers. Gawking at the large variety of strange passengers, she strolls up to the window and peers out into the Dream Width, eyes nearly bulging out of her sockets.]

Woah... wait just a second. Where's-

[Forcing herself away from the magnificent view, Connie double checks the rest of the infirmary, searching high and low for her jam bud to no avail. Lips pursed in a thin line, she begins pacing down the length of the cabin, mumbling to herself.]

Okay, Connie, let's review the situation. One, I'm trapped in a... completely different ship? Last I remember I was, or, well, we were crashing in the hold of the Sun Incinerator to get some rest before heading back home. Two, Steven, Lars, and the Off Colors aren't here, or at least I haven't seen them yet. Three, there appear to be a variety of species laid up in... wherever here is.

[She groans, then realizes something, reaching for an object at her shoulder that is no longer there.]

Great. Just fantastic. Both my sword and all my survival equipment are gone. Amazing!

[She shakes her head, pinching the bridge of her nose.]

None of this makes any sense!

PROMPT B
[Connie clenches her fist, staring at the ground.]

So... what you're saying is that nobody's made it back home? Ever?

[Tears welling at the corners of her eyes, Connie turns away.]

Excuse me. I... I just need a moment. Please. This... it's a lot to take in.

PROMPT D
[Connie watches with delight as the swordmasters show off their craft, dueling each other in a near-blinding flurry of shining steel. When the demonstration is over, she begins to approach one of the recruiters, before stopping. She takes another step, then another, raising a finger, but backs off at the last second, uncertain. She was just so... young. And considering that apparently the Width had sapped all of her strength, showing off her own skills wasn't an option. How in all the hells was she supposed to get her asterisk?]

PROMPT D, PART 2
[Eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets at the flash displays of magic put on by the black mages, Connie shows none of the hesitation that she did at the swordmaster guild, practically bouncing up to one of the demonstrators.]

Hi! Um, hi. Yeah. My name's Connie. Connie Maheswaran. I'm, just... wow. In case it wasn't, heh, obvious already, I'm from offworld. Or, er, off dimension. It's kind of a fuzzy area, isn't it? Oh god I'm rambling. Anyways, I know I probably seem a bit, um, young for this line of work, but the thing is I, I really want to learn magic, and I, um... I want to help the people here. There are so many monsters and threats and evil beings just kinda stomping all over the people on this world, and it, it... I dunno. Maybe I'm a dumb kid but I feel like it's my duty to try and help people here. This place his my home now, and I, um, I should do my best to defend it. Right. God. That was so embarrassing and I'm just going to stop talking now.

Lapis Fathalla | Original

[personal profile] oneirism 2018-03-17 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
(F.)
[When Lapis had accepted this quest, she figured it would be simple enough - go into some ruins, retrieve the artifact (some weird cactus-looking statue?) and then go hand it for gil. Easy enough.

Except these ruins have involved every kind of rudimentary puzzle possible, from block-pushing to stepping onto stones in time with some pattern randomly displayed on the wall. It feels like no matter how far in they go, they just get set back or held up for like thirty minutes by another 'match the pattern' game. Even for someone as patient as Lapis, this was getting rather annoying.

At least she isn't alone in this, though by now she just wants to get that statue and get out.]

Why are there so many puzzles... The quest details never said anything about this statue being super important.

[Or maybe whoever made this temple was just super bored. Or sadistic. Or both.]

(I.)
[As an Astrologian, or at least a basic one, Lapis is here to provide some support for her other party members! Luckily she was with others when the hostile (hopefully not a Tonberry) approached them, since it's not as if she has much in terms of attack strength. At least Major Arcana provides some good buffs for more offensive-orientated companions, so she just needs to draw a card and -

- And it's Spear.

Dammit.]

I hope you didn't need the buff right now. [Now she needs to wait until she can draw again, so she'll just... believe in her companions strength. And hope they can help defend her too, since she's too squishy for direct combat.]

Give me a moment, I'll try to draw again. [Why can't she just throw out the Spear, it's such a useless card-!!]

(J.)

[If they hadn’t been aboard a flying machine out in extradimensional space, Castor would be climbing the walls. Instead, she stalks around the observation lounge like a large and angry cat, all tense muscles and wary looks.

She’s tall and muscular, an imposing figure even in the best of moods but with her white hair free of it’s bonds and wild about her shoulders, she looks more than a little…feral.]

I don’t suppose you have any answers, hm?

[C]
[Alright, this is getting to be less terrible. The air rushing by here reminds her so very much of the skies above Dravania, and for the first time since arriving, Castor finally looks to be at ease. When she finally speaks, her tone is wistful, and perhaps a little sad. ]

What a view! I can’t wait to travel overland...It’s not often I see a place I don’t recognize.

[E+F (and maybe I)]
[ Now we’re cooking with gas. What is, after all, an Adventurer who does not adventure? With an appropriate work writ, it’s easy to requisition a chocobo and some supplies (-at least two steps too many in Castor’s own opinion, but jobs meant prestige meant gil meant freedom-), and she’s practiced enough at bird-back to be able to ponder over the map as the bird plods along.]

If I’m reading this right, the ruins we’ve been tasked to explore should be nearby. Shout if you see something neat!

[She blinks and looks up, as if realizing something.] Or vicious. Shout if you see something vicious.

(Retrieval.)

[ It's always just a little worrying, manning the infirmary and waiting for them to wake up. What if they don't? Does that happen? It's never happened on her watch, but what if it did? What if they pull someone out of the width and it isn't good for them? Not just 'maybe they don't want to be here', but what if it hurts them?

She shuffles around awkwardly until the sound of movement, of someone rousing, catches her attention. ]

Oh! You're awake! Oh, thank goodness! [ Hello, this is almost certainly way too much positivity and energy for someone who's just woken up ]. Hello! You are- almost certainly going to have a great deal of questions, but- but well done! You are the first!

(Sidequests)

Oh! Oh- you- you really want that one? You're- sure?

[ She hesitates, watching as you take a paper from the board, because on the one hand this is very good for the center. Please SOMEONE take that job. It really needs doing, and nobody wants it and she certainly can't do it. But on the other, it really doesn't feel right to just let one of the newcomers stumble into this one.

And so after a moment she gives chase, tapping you on the shoulder. ]

I do not mean to assume, but-. You- ...do know what a Malboro is, don't you?

(Mognet)

Goodness, this is the third time this month.

[ You can tell when the mognet is down, because people go back to old fashioned methods of communicating. Shouting, for example. A great deal. While some of the newcomers still need rest. Acting tremendously put upon, she puts up a notice on the wall, placing a few pads of sticky notes on the floor next to it.

Temporary Mognet

And then, to christen it, she adds the first sticky note. ]

Please stop shouting. People need rest. -Sarah

A- Retrieval

[A boy in a pinstripe school uniform sits on the floor against the wall of the ship’s lounge, his hat’s brim angled to cover most of his face as he gazes up at one of the windows.]

…I guess I beat you to space, huh, Kaito?

[There’s a note of despair in his voice, and he draws his knees up and wraps his arms around them so he’s in a near-fetal position.][That means its time to start investigating. Or he can keep feeling sorry for himself, it’s really a coin flip at this point.]

F- Sidequests

[Here’s something more familiar to Shuichi. This quest wasn’t the highest paying notice on the board, nor the most exciting, but if you ask Shuichi, he’ll tell you the life of a detective is rarely glamorous or thrilling like that.

Shuichi is perfectly content, scribbling down notes on a pad of paper occasionally about the passersby on the street below. He’s on the case to figure out who’s been stealing from the tip jar at the local coffee and kupo nut café, and he’s settled in for hours of watching and waiting as he gathers the facts. He pushes a backpack toward his fellow quester.]

Stakeouts can be a little boring if you’re not used to them. There are some snacks in there from the vending machine if you want.

[Because, you know, when you hang out with someone, it’s perfectly normal to give them a gift. Don’t make it weird.]

H-You’ve got MogMail!

[Shuichi finishes typing up his case notes for his first successful lost chocobo-chick retrieval, and goes to send it off to the client. A detailed write-up of the chocobo’s whereabouts prior to its recapture, the clues indicating that the owner’s disgruntled employee left the pen open, a receipt for getting his clothes cleaned after a trek through the mud in a medium-speed chase –he’s the Ultimate Detective, not the Ultimate Athlete-, and an invoice for services rendered.]

Perfect. Aaaand, send…

…wait, why did that “Send all”? Is this thing broken?

[Sorry, random member of the Kali Shashidhwaja Linkshell, you’re about to learn more than you ever needed to know about the adventures of little Boregard the baby chocobo.]

g. job coaching
[His visit to the Ninja Guild was painful (if successful), so he's very happy to see his chosen career as an option. But it occurs to him that others might want to play, so he's decided to start a blitzball training group. After his MogNet post about it, the stragglers meet on the beach. Tidus waves to them cheerfully, ball under his arm.]

So you want to learn to blitz, huh? You need speed, focus, and guts---but you've got that, right? Or you wouldn't be here. We're gonna play with the ball on the beach for now, and when we're ready we're hitting the water. It's the least fiend-infested place I could find---they wouldn't let me rent the blitz stadium. But that'll just make us tough, right?

i. random encounter
[Time to test his new ninja skills! Tidus's first encounter: a fairly harmless looking frog. He grins and flows into a strike, as he was trained, but the counter-jab hits him. There's a small crash---an abandoned katana and iMog Slate hit the ground, and a small yellow frog lands next to them.

Heed the flailing and croaks of distress, or attack the 'new' monster?]

𝕰: Let's Be Adventurers(?)

[There's a very good reason for Sandra to be in Sparks Golsaucia. Of all the cities, it's the one furthest away from one of her biggest fears. There are plenty of directions one can go adventuring in, too! There's the Yuri Fields, there's the Sakura Forest...both sound easy to deal with now that she's a proud and true summoner, she should go out there and see what the world has to offer, and...

...she takes five steps out of the city gates and quickly turns around to walk back inside. She stands there for a few more minutes, tries again, and once more comes back inside. Each time, she seems to be giving herself a pep talk, mumbling under her breath.

Should someone approach her, she'll speak to them with a kind, sweet voice.]

Hi...oh, hello, excuse me. Can I ask you a question?

[Despite her job, she's still wearing her Cloud 9 uniform underneath a new robe. Maybe that's why most of the people walking by her just ignore her?]

𝕲: Get a Job

[For whatever reason, your character is now in the Item Shop. Sitting behind the nearest counter is a woman who looks bored...or not. Upon closer inspection, it appears the cashier is asleep. She has one arm out on the table holding a potion bottle, and her other hand is propping her face up.

A kid walks out carrying a potion, and the bell on the door jangles as it opens and closes. Sandra doesn't even stir.]

𝕳: Mognet

[There's a new message on the board today! Why don't you go take a look?]

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I just wanted to say I think it's wonderful so many of us arrived all at once. I've never had this many friends before. One time, I had a Sim with this many friends, but this is even better. We should all hang out together soon, don't you think? Maybe there's a trivia night we can all go to. I've been thinking of team names. Personally, I like 'The Best Friends Team.' Let me know, alright?

Your friend,

[Whoops. It looks like a prankster tore off Sandra's name. Maybe that's a good thing?]

[The first thing Prompto remarks when he opens his eyes is that he's not staring at the inside of the Keep. That's good, because he could have sworn he was still there.

No wait. They left hadn't they? It must have been a dream. He has a a feeling that will be a common occurrence. But, notably, he's not walking through Niflheim either. It's not unreasonably cold, and he's not in a tent.

Huh. Where is he then? He sits up and wraps his arms around his knees, looking around. This place is unfamiliar. He swallows. He's not kidnapped again is he? Vague wisps of memories, he was being saved from...something? It's not clear. At least, he's not bound in any way, and the bruises they hadn't had time to heal in the Keep are gone.

Nothing hurts.

What is this place? He gets up off the cot finally, smoothing down his shirt and peers around the corner to encounter someone unfamiliar? He steps back, all nerves suddenly ratcheting up to 100 in mere seconds, as though he's been burned.]

[B]

[Outside the Curti Center, he's looking a little lost. Sure, he's been given a map and all but it's hard to reference things without having actually explored the world and he sighs with annoyance. He's not really sure he wants to live here, being that he has a perfectly - well not good, but okay world that they're trying to save and it's been so rudely interrupted.]

...I'm not sure how to read this map.

[He's more talking to himself, but it's not as quiet as he probably should be if he doesn't want to attract attention. He certainly looks engrossed in it though, he'd be an easy target for a small fright.]

[They're in the sky. They're flying in the sky, very high up. What if the airship crashes?

Prompto is very steadfastly refusing to look out the window. The floor is fascinating and he's singing to himself under his breath.]

A. Retrieval, or, Why Are We in Space?

[Vax feels like shit.

Being recovered by Biggs and Wedge was an experience. It's not an experience he wouldn't want to repeat. But he doesn't want to lay around in bed, which is why he gets up, and stretches out his arms. Then, he frowns.

And frowns more as he looks out of a window.]
Percival, if this is your idea of a fucking joke, then I'm going to have words with you.

[He leans in, looks out the window, and glowers. Are those the stars? What is this? Can he see the planet down there? What even--he groans, and then rubs his face.]

D. Guilds, Or Multiclassing!

[Vax'ildan has a little experience in killing a dragon. He also has three more to go. In a way, that made the first Guild to call upon easy: Dragoons. As much as he needs to get back to Exandria fucking tomorrow, if he can do it with the pre-made knowledge of warriors who specialize in killing dragons...

Win-win?

And so, Vax is in Safer Osu. He already received his Asterisk, heard the spiel, and nodded along with it. Having some power back will help -- he didn't relish the time he ran away from a Bomb, because his dagger wasn't suited for the job, and he didn't have his boots, his Vestige, or anything else.

He has new armor, now. Even if, without the Deathwalker's Ward... no, that feels strange. The lack of connection to the Raven Queen feels strange.

But what feels strange, most of all, is the draconic light mail before him: in a neat pile, with a dragon head-like helmet staring up at him. Vax scowls down as he grabs his vambrace and lifts it, turning it over.]

...There aren't instructions. To put this shit on. Are there.

E. Adventuring, Or FUCKING HORSEBIRDS

[The cheapest and quickest way to go between two cities, of course, is to rent a chocobo and ride there. Nevermind that Vax doesn't know what a chocobo is. He stands a distance away from the stables, rolling his shoulders, and turns to look at his companion.]

We should be able to make it to the next town before dusk, with this. I heard they're safe, whatever they are.

[Local fauna's weird here. But then, the handler comes out, with the big, yellow-feathered birds with reins. Vax turns, stares at them, and barks out:]

What the fuck are those things!

[Spoilers: giant birds STINK.]

(SPOILER WARNING FOR CHAPTER 13)

The murmurs of others all around him were... comforting. More so than he ever wanted to admit, or likely would. He had no idea how long he had been separated, with only murderous MTs, daemons and that asshole's voice over the speakers to keep him company. Until recently. Yet as it sunk in, along with the information that had been dumped on him...

He sat up in his cot, slowly at first as he slowly registered the sights around him. The amount of cots around him was shocking. Not to mention how many...

"...The hell is going on?" The young man muttered, covered in dirt and dried sweat. come a quiet, almost raspy, deep voice as the young man looked around. "Ignis? Gladio? ...Prompto?"

Maybe it was a vain hope that they were there as well as he stood, planning on searching around the other cots in the makeshift infirmary until he either found his friends, or resigned himself to the fact they might not be there. Either way, he'd likely busy himself with trying to help as much as any other clueless arrival could.
(END SPOILERS)

Otherwise, the young and displaced king could be found ignoring the seating in the lounge, instead staring out into space that passes them by. He never thought he'd get to see what outer space looked like in person, and despite all that happened, he can't help but be completely fascinated by the sight.

"Whoa..." None of the constellations were familiar, but it was likely obvious by any who saw him that he's barely holding himself back from pressing against the window panes in pure awe. Though, sometimes instead he lightly runs his thumb against a certain black ring...

C.
'New home'. 'Vaikuntha.' He had no problems potentially staying with others, gods know he'd been sharing a tent with his three closest friends for a long while, but all of this at once..? It was a little overwhelming, even for him. What wasn't, however....

"Haha, this is awesome!" Noctis was practically grinning from ear to ear as he watched the sights below them speed by. It wasn't the first time he'd been on an airship (he'd rather forget the first time), but it was for one that someone could see outside of while not being the driver and staring into a monitor of the outside.

A. is for Not Airsick

There’s at least one blue haired figure staggering around the halls of the airship, trying to get his bearings. He does not have motion sickness, thank you very much. He’s just a bit… wobbly on his feet. And constantly bumping into walls as the ship sways underneath him.

Still, give a man credit for trying and being very stubborn at figuring out where he is. And grumbling under his breath.

“This is- this is ridiculous, it’s just a ship. I’ve been on ships before-”

He cuts off once he throws open a door… and potentially wrenches it off its hinges to reach the passenger deck. He almost falls over, but this time it’s from the sight before him.

“…Oh.” Chrom manages, trying to get his legs to stand straight with mixed results. Oddly enough, he doesn’t seem to be THAT scared of the height, with how he’s staring down at the landscape. Just the novelty of being thousands of feet in the air.

“This… looks nothing like Ylisse.” He deflates a little as he says that, a lot of the fight and willpower going out of him just like that. It leaves him off guard; once a stray breeze rocks the ship, and he stumbles, likely straight into anyone else on the deck.

D. is for Damage-Inducing Training

Some things don’t change, as it turns out. Chrom all but jumps at the first opportunity to start training and swinging a sword at things. (Actually, there might be a little bit of literal jumping once he notices a striking similarity with the paladin class, and quiet admonishment to stay behind the line until the demonstration is over.)

And to be fair, he looks quite at home with the new outfit… though he appears to have removed one sleeve for some reason. Maybe it’s just to better swing a sword, which he’s doing with gusto. THIS is clearly something he knows-

And is maybe a little overconfident with, due to one of his swings going wide. And chopping an arm off a training dummy. And then smashing a hole into the wall behind it. Oddly enough the sword stays intact, even if there’s a sizable gap/new window space in the bricks now.

…Just. Don’t look at it. Don’t look at the hole in the wall. Maybe people will think it was there already?

F. is for Freaking Out Over Horsebirds.

Given how much property damage debt he’s managed to build up in just a few hours/days, maybe it’s not that surprising that Chrom has accepted a brief quest. And it sounds fairly simple; go to a chocobo stable, and give the mounts some exercise. He DID list his qualifications as being a decent rider.

No one told him that chocobos have a habit of nibbling on people with pokey hair, however. Or the whole ‘giant bird’ thing. Maybe it was just taken as a given.

“Right…” Chrom mutters, sizing up the big yellow bird in front of him, trying to push back against the beak. The chocobo however just continues nibbling with a good natured coo as Chrom struggles to put the saddle on the thing. “It can’t be that different from a horse, right? Right.”

He finally gets the straps in order, and distracts the bird long enough with some greens landed from the stable master. It gives him room to climb into the saddle. And do it well enough! He actually feels like a proper rider now. Just one whose hair has also turned into a bird’s nest, and who looks like he’s already done hours of riding instead of a few minutes.

[ A young elf woman sits on one of the benches of the airship, shivering slightly, holding herself. Her long, light-pink hair is dull, obviously have been left unwashed for a long time. Her clothes are in disarray, and upon closer look one might spot the silver dragon-like scales creeping up from beneath her collar on her skin, which fade to regular skin about a third up her neck.

Anyone that saw her dream might remember seeing three others with her, a dark shadow looming over them as they stood before an entire village of dead residents, whose bodies were smashed, broken, impaled with large icicles. "Good," the shadow spoke with a smooth, enticing voice. "Exactly what I expected from my first servants." It's no wonder she seems shaken and dazed.

If she catches you looking at her, she will greet you with a doubtful gaze and a frown. ]
What?

[ Interested in exploring some of the ruins? Let's go together!

Unfortunately, the Illusionist job doesn't give her as much power in battle as she's used to, but scouting is fine. It reminds her of her days sneaking out with her brother.

Before her (and anyone else she's traveling with!) is a single hallway, suddenly much darker than the reset of the ruins previously. Hmm, this looks suspicious. She stops walking. ]

I can go ahead and look for traps. [ She turns around. ] Do you have a light?

[ G - the library ]
[ The Great McGard Library. Honestly, it's a fantastic place. Informative books, relaxing silence. Ena has really enjoyed working here for the past few months, since it gives her a spot to collect her thoughts in the midst of unfamiliar chaos.

Except now, she can hear someone in this sacred building being loud. Unacceptable.

Whoever that happens to be, she will quietly approach them, stand directly behind them and hover, making her six-foot stature even taller. ]

The library must remain silent.

Hey. Just because no one has doesn't mean no one will, right?

[But that sounds wrong even to him. He's been through this once before.]

I mean...I know it hurts. I was already taken from home before I got here, and now I don't know if I'll ever get back. But you've got friends to help you here, right?

"Nope. I really don't think it's that hard to figure out though."

[Says the girl in the comparatively much easier to figure out Swordmaster's uniform. She's looking at Vax in almost a disappointed manner, as she picks up the chest piece from the pile and recklessly tosses it at him, expecting him to just, catch it.]

"Put this one on first."

Connie practically jumps out of her skin when she's approached by Sarah, then she turns around and relaxes slightly. Rubbing the back of her head, she says, "Oh, uh, sorry about that. I'm just a little on edge right now. A lot, really. Um, where am I? And who are all these," she gestures vaguely at the other, slowly waking passengers, "people?"

[As much as he'd like to go tearing off into the wilds to find out why he's here and how to find a way back that would be reckless. He doesn't do reckless. Shiro takes advantage of the researchers excitement to ask anything he can about the world and get pointed towards maps and further information. He hasn't seen hide nor hair of his team so far.

But if they're here, they'll go looking for answers too. He sits down in plain view of anyone passing by, but enough out of the way to not be a hindrance. He pauses his reading any time anyone really lost comes by.]

Hey, if you need the maps or something else, I've got a few of them right here.

[Eventually he has to turn in. He doesn't want to but, he'd be useless if he just worked himself into the ground. When guided to the place he has to stay and share with others he holds out a hand to his new roommates.]

Hey, looking like we're selected to share this space. Anything I need to know to make it easier on you?

D. Guilds
[Jobs are the way to get power here. Power that could help him explore and protect others. He'd weighed his options and considered what he felt would serve him best. Thus he stepped off the airship and made his way through Von Oktavia to the guild of Paladins.

It's been a while since he signed papers and went through all the red tape of getting into a job. He can't help feeling a little lost when his guide directs him into the introductory lectures.

On the bright side he's used to armor. The problem? He's not used to heavy swords. At first training with a heavy sword or spear is awkward. He swings too hard and his strokes aren't as accurate as they would be if he used his arm. The spear is worse.

Judging the distance between himself and a target is a bit harder than he wants it to be. Still when facing off against someone else he smiles just a bit.]
Looks like I'm your opponent today. I'll do what I can to be a match for you.

[Going to Safer Osu to become a dragoon is a lot easier. By now he knows what to expect. Or he thought he did. Lighter armor is fine. Jumping way high? Not so much. Maybe one is out training or chatting with others on the practice field. A dragoon hits the ground like a hammer, spear driven into the ground with a bit more force than necessary. The helmet is shove up enough to talk, revealing a shock of white hair and a sheepish expression.]

Sorry, getting used to the jumps. Didn't mean to startle.

F. Side Quest
You okay? [Shiro has planted himself firmly on a ledge and cautiously driven his spear into the rocks of a cliff. It was either that or jump down into unknown territory and he'd learned the hard way how bad that could be here.]

Just grab my hand and I'll get you out of here. [He risks a glance below at the writhing, stinking, horrible mess of tentacles and teeth below them. For the uptenth time he reminds himself that he signed up for this. Not knowing what Malboros are is entirely his error.]

...as quietly as I can. Seriously, try not to wake that thing up.

H. Mognet strike
Really? You're just going to- [An irritated sigh issues forth from the Paladin standing by the public boards. He'd meant to send a message to a team he'd signed up to complete a quest with.

The the moogles decided no one was getting instant messages anywhere. He frowns up at the boards and glances around.]

...this better not last as long as last time. [Or he'd miss the window to get details for what they were facing on this quest into the wilderness.]

It looks stupid complicated.

[The chest piece goes flying, and Vax catches it. Roughly, but his reflexes are sharp. He looks down at it, before he opens it, and starts sliding it on. He looks down at his side and frowns down at the buckles and clasps.]
