TEST DRIVE MEME

A. RETRIEVAL

Dreams fade slowly, and awareness returns in increments. The hum of machinery, the smell of recycled air, the murmurs of others waking up around you.

The interior of the ship has been outfitted with cots for those Biggs and Wedge retrieve from the Dream Width. Outside of the makeshift infirmary, windows set into the walls of the worn lounge area offer a view of space.

It’s time to meet your fellow new arrivals who have been brought together on Biggs and Wedge’s airship. None of you know how you came to be here or where you are going, and the door to the cockpit is locked as the pilots focus on navigating the treacherous obstacles of the Dream Width. You might as well take this moment to introduce yourself to your fellow travelers.

B. CURTI CENTER

There’s an almost overwhelming aura of excitement in the tower as researchers rush to document this unprecedented number of interdimensional travelers. Over the commotion, the leaders of the Center struggle to explain, ‘Welcome to Vaikuntha. We don’t know why you’ve been brought here, but this is your new home.’

The staff will do their best to help the off-worlders settle in. They answer the questions they can, provide maps and pamphlets about the world and the destinations within it, and even guide the arrivals to a neighborhood where housing has been provided for you. Yes, due to the strange influx of arrivals, you’ll be expected to share, but the Curti staff are doing the best they can under the circumstances.

Experiences like these bring people together. Perhaps you are the only one here from your world, but at least you are not alone in this experience. Others are right beside you, learning the same information, planning trips to visit the same new cities, checking out these Job things, and settling in to their new (temporary) homes.

C. UP IN THE SKY

There’s a whole new world to explore. It’s almost enough to distract from the fact that there’s one place you can’t go- home.

You are on an Airship, the main mode of transportation between the major cities of Vaikuntha. While the majority are owned by airlines, perhaps you hitched a ride with a friend that has their own. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

D. GUILDS

Proud representatives of the Guild are lined up, ready to demonstrate their skills for the new initiates. Make sure to stay behind the designated line, this might get dangerous.

So you want a new Job? You'll have to first travel to the Guilds, sign the papers, go through the orientation and introductory lectures, and get basic training. Afterwards, you can freely chat and practice with your fellow members, celebrating your new powers, and checking out your new wardrobe.

E. LET'S BE ADVENTURERS

Separated from all of your material possessions, connections, and everything you know, and really, what you’re left with is time. Better try to make the most of it.

Enough expository banter. It's explorin' time. Maybe instead of spending every day in your room, you'd rather spend it living it up in the city of Lavode, or betting on Chocobo Races in Sparks Goldsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the caves and ruins near Arito. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!

F. SIDEQUESTS

Maybe you’re telling yourself, ‘I didn’t sign up for this.’ But wait, you did. At least it pays.

It all started when you checked the Quest Board.  All you wanted was a few gil to spend, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or you could be asked to be janitor for a week. Consider yourself lucky though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

G. GET A JOB (THE OTHER KIND)

You’ve got a Job, but Claire keeps sighing and muttering about layabout space-people not earning their keep, so it might be time to seek out Employment as well.

There are plenty of opportunities to earn some gil in Vaikuntha, no matter where you choose to settle down. Your iMog slate includes listing for employment opportunities. Hopefully you can find something you can live with so that you can start saving up for an airship or the security payment for your permanent housing.

H. MOGNET

*Ding!* You’ve got Mog-Mail!

Thankfully, you can instantaneously chat with your friends around the world thanks to you iMog Slate. And unlike old-fashioned Moogle Letters, you can even send messages to everyone in a blink of an eye! However, despite the change in technology, the old tradition of Mognet Strikes have never gone away. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public boards or risk message corruption and mishandling.

I. RANDOM ENCOUNTER

The ground trembles, and out of nowhere, something hostile appears! Is that battle music playing?

You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Will you try to fight on your own or seek help? And remember, you die in random battle, you die FOR REAL. There’s no shame from running from enemies that are a higher level than you!

A

So... this is an airship....

[ An actual honest-to goodness airship, running on its own power. Not like the ship that Ba'ul had carried, or Myorzo.

Honestly, a part of her is pretty nervous. Most everyone is a stranger thus far - nobody from Terca Lumiries that she's seen. But so far curiosity is overwhelming any overt fear. There's so much to see. ]

Is there any way up to the deck?

[ Assuming there is a deck. But she'd be able to get a better view up there. ]

G

[ ... it's probably not all that much of a surprise that the job Estelle took was at the library. Although she's spending as much time reading as she is doing her job. Which means it might take a moment to catch her attention. ]

Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't see you there. Is there something I can help you with?

[ At least it helps her familiarity on the material available? ]

Nanamo Ul Namo | Final Fantasy XIV

a

[Waking up disoriented was something that Nanamo wasn't really a fan of. The last time she woke up disoriented and tired, it was after a nasty round. But as she sat in the cot, recovering, her legs swung gently back and forth, thinking about her lot in life.

Looking up at her bunkmate, she offered a smile.]

Tis another star, is it naught? So different from the land that I hail from and yet... so similar.

d

After several hours of consideration, and the fact that this darnable cowlick would not go away, Nanamo decided she needed a Job. Like the Warrior seemed to change at the drop of a hat. But wasn't that the way of the Adventurer?

Thus, arriving at the guild, she eyed it up and down. Merlwyb often boasted of the guns of her land, and she signed the paperwork.

Now outfitted in the stark red and black of the Job, she tried twirling the large gun with a little bit of a stumble.]

Maybe it is too large for that...

E

[Adventurers Guild! Ah yes, the place of coin and the lure of slaying mammots for their keep. Nanamo felt her purse was far too light and thus she was pouring over the jobs. Many of them were high level, but there was a hand-picked-over selection of lower level jobs. Many of them relegated to the dregs since the influx of arrivals had picked over them.

She sniffed a little, making a face as she picked up the first one she found that didn't look terrible.

How bad could a treant be?]

Mikhail | Drakengard 3

Prompt A

Zero? Zeeeerooooo??

[With all the people that've apparently just randomly appeared here, it makes sense that someone might be stomping around the airship, looking for someone important to them. From the voice, it sounds like some poor kid has gotten tangled up in this, some poor eight or ten year old from the sound of it, though you'd think they were a giant from the way they're stomping around and the noise they're making.

You'd be right too, because when the 'kid' in question is finally in view, it's a baby dragon. A very small baby dragon, considering they can move around inside the airship, even if they have to hunch their wings a bit. The dragon moves its head erratically from side to side, looking for whoever 'Zero' is before seeing you.]

Hey! Have you seen my friend Zero? She's brave, but kind of mean, and-

[And then the dragon moves back a moment in surprise.]

Hey! You're big! Like, really big! You're almost as big as me!

[Yeah. The baby dragon doesn't understand right now that his size has been greatly decreased upon entering the world.]

Prompt B

[Aside from a battlefield, Mikhail isn't used to being in a place so full of people all the time. Zero had tended to keep to the outdoors and the wilderness during their travels, avoiding cities when they could aside from when it was time to go into battle with her sisters. Actually interacting with people in a large city or crowd, that was new.

And even if he's much smaller, he's still not used to the idea of keeping his wings or tail closer to him so he's not knocking into people this way and that.]

Oh, excuse me! Sorry! Are you okay?

[The little dragon actually sounds a little sad or scared that he's knocking into people like this too, a little frantic at it. It's as if it might be a little much for the poor boy to take in at the moment, despite his excitement at being here as well.]

Victoria "Vic" Demor || Original Character

[personal profile] uneroded 2018-03-18 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
II. Welcome

[ Vic is used to weird things by this point. So she just rolls with it. Smiles and nods and--well, it's a break. Asmodeus did keep telling her to take a vacation, this will just be an extended one, it seems. She immediately takes what she's given and sits at a table she can find, and starts to just. Read. Read and read and enjoy it. She's fascinated, really, by all of the information. You know, she always wanted an adventure, so why not enjoy it? So long as Asmodeus and Lilith aren't nagging her to take a break... In fact, they won't be allowed to now. ]

...I wonder if they'll count this as a vacation if I still work during it...? It's just... Not chasing a serial killer.

III. In The Sky

[ Vic had been on planes before. But airships feel different. They're a new experience. And really, she hadn't been home in a long time, so flying... It's been too long. Airplanes don't have one thing, though, and that's decks where you can feel the wind whipping through your hair. She'll accept it, even if it means she has to brush it later. This is... It's nice. ]

Not sure I can go back to airplanes after this.

IV. Guilds

[ So. Red Mage. She'd been that kid who dreamed of being a swashbuckler or fantastic wizard, so why not a combination of both? A rapier and a few spells. That sounds like fun. So she'll try on the new clothes (the red reminds her a bit too much of blood, with all she's seen, but she'll deal) and go find the practice grounds. She'd never used a sword before--guns, sure, but never swords. So this is entirely new. She'll try the magic after her footwork and fencing are a bit better, really. ]

So... Like this? ...Or was it--hm.

X. Wild Card

[ Anything else you wanna do? Just tag and I'll work with it! ]

S'reee/Young Wizards

[personal profile] singerofspells 2018-03-18 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[OOC: Yes, S'reee is a whale. A humpback, to be specific. She's going to be roughly person sized in the game.]

A. Out of Her Element...

[The staff tried, but despite the diversity of peoples, no one had assumed a new arrival would lack legs. Consequently, S'reee awoke lying awkwardly on a stretcher while a Moogle filled a tank with saltwater.]

[She... either she was in a land of beings that were extremely large for land-dwellers, or somehow she had shrunk. She tried to glance around, and sang out -- no words, just to see if she could echolocate in air, get her bearings so she felt less beached. She'd travelled through air, but always in a shell of water and wizardry and...

[... wizardry. She couldn't feel that sense of power that was her conduit to the Sea, lurking in the back of her mind. She started the words in the Speech that would levitate her, but there was no power there. What in the Sea's name was going on? Why had the Powers sent her here?

[The being nearby finally noticed that S'ree was up and speaking, and commented. "Oh, kupo. I wanted to have this done. Hang on, okay, kupo?"]

What is going on. Where am I?

[She'd finally started to notice the others. Humans, or a similar species, which confirmed that she had shrunk down to nearly their size.]

Hello, cousins? Can you assist?

D. Whalesong

[The system seemed horrendously complex, but S'reee was apparently without her Art at the time. And relying on a mechanical cart that the Moogles had rigged to be controlled by fins and flukes. It was a novelty to be out around humans who were not wizards, but if she'd wanted too back on Earth, she could try a shapechange spell.

[Bard seemed the most familiar, if it could be used with song alone. She would have to ask.]

Excuse me.

[And try not to drive anyone down on the way.]

Johannes Cabal | The Fall of the House of Cabal (And Preceding Novels)

[personal profile] necrophobic 2018-03-18 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
A: Retrieval

[There are many figures milling about - and one standing in a corner pinching his nose, like this is some sort of penance. To Johannes Cabal, it is. He's unsure of where he stands in life at the moment, but that didn't have to be literal, and didn't have to involve... the commonwealth. He's an unknown in these waters, certainly, although they are not literal waters, and he's sure he can get a new lease on life... But he doesn't really want one.

He's caked in ash and looks exhausted, but he's still frowning, eyes moving like he's trying to solve a riddle. He's certainly not paying attention to anyone who may approach, and if spoken to, will simply raise a suspicious eyebrow.]

B: Curti Center

[At the news he must share a space, Cabal physically recoils.]

Unacceptable. [His voice is curt, clipped, and slightly accented. Hesse German, to those who would recognize it.] I need my own space to work.

[He's assured he'll be able to acquire such a space, given time and resources, and settles down, face grim and dour. This is a complete waste of time. He marches away, shoving past people with an assertiveness not betrayed by his lithe frame.]

C: Up In The Sky

[Cabal's been on airships before. He's flown small ones, even. They didn't work like this, but he's been studying the principles, and he's quite sure that in the event of an emergency he could replace the pilot.

It's still boring until that happens, though, and he spends most of the time studying his environs, reading a newspaper, and checking his watch. That doesn't mean he doesn't pay attention to the people, however. Now and then he'll be caught staring at someone.

Who can blame him, after his last trip.]

D: Guilds

[Cabal has heard rumors, of late, of a group of people known as Chemists. It's said that with enough study, one can even raise the fallen... And that perked his ears even more than the name. He's actually not sulking, or frowning, or otherwise dour as he approaches the guild hall. In fact, he's simply very serious, which is usually as close as the former necromancer gets to jovial, as he listens to the lectures and signs the docket.

... However, he's not sure what to make of the uniform. For one, it's not black, and it doesn't involve a cravat. It's completely out of his purview.]

F. Fetch Quest!
[Look, most of Zelgadis's actual skills are for walking into dangerous places and not dying. Consequently, he volunteered to lead a party down through some ruins to find whatever it is at the bottom. And the only reason he's taking a group is because going alone when he doesn't have more than basic elemental magic is stupid. At the very least, he wanted someone who knew healing spells.]

Right, I'm hoping there's a legendary artifact at the center of the ruin but, let's be honest, it's probably an awful monster. So let's get going then.

G.
[OF course, no actual skills means Zelgadis's choice of employment is limited. He'd thought that being able to fly airships would be a useful travel skill, so applied for an apprenticeship. Currently, since the flight attendant is out sick today, as soon as the pilot and co-pilot got them up and Zelgadis was no longer required to watch them, he was shuffled out with a spare apron over his uniform and a tray.]

Drinks and snacks?

[Someone, please tell him that he will actually learn how to fly one of these things?]

B. Common Curtiss-y

[It doesn't take much for Jade to keep his level mask upon hearing of this place's name from the locals out and about, but it certainly is another brand of trying to see all these rather familiar place names on the map, a dozen possibilities swimming around idly in his head as he wonders why that is the case.

He's leaning against a wall, studying the latest set of pamphlets given to him when he feels a pair of eyes on him. Lifting his gaze from the papers, he meets them square on, his usual, polite smile on his face.]

...Is there anything I can help you with?

F/G. A Militaristic Approach

[Jade doesn't really wait for anyone to get passive-aggressive about him about finding an actual job. Once he's settled his business on the Asterisk front, he takes the time to check out the listings, as well as some of these "quests" available for adventurers to partake in.

While certain jobs have caught his eye, he supposes that he might as well take advantage of the freedom afforded him before he commits to any of these seeming long-term commitments so to speak.

...And that is how Jade Curtiss, colonel and fonist extraordinaire, finds himself working a simple janitor job for a few days. Despite the task not being his idea of a good time, it seemed like an interesting way to get another view of the culture around the place, as well as come across any other information he wouldn't otherwise.

That said, it doesn't stop him from being a small terror of a kind, sighing dramatically as folds his hands over his deck brush and rests his chin lightly on top of it.]

Retrieval

[This isn't an odd feeling. This isn't even an unusual feeling. This is just a feeling to Selphie. It's just a feeling because she's felt this way before in a time long past. She sits up on the cot far too quickly, letting the dizzying waves pull her back down onto the cot. The second go around, she's moving at a gingerly pace before she swings her legs over the side and stands up.

This... isn't the hospital at Aqures Ixen and it isn't her dorm room either. It's an open area full of cots with a sea of faces to scan for the sight of those she knew. There was a feeling of loneliness bubbling inside her that she's hiding on the outside with a curious look. What had happened now? She walks slowly towards the windows of the airship and settles her hands on the sill to try and quell the light tremble in them.

They'd won... hadn't they?]

Sidequests

[To get her mind off her current predicament and to procure some extra funds, Selphie dived right into what felt the most familiar. Work. She wasn't the strongest or the swiftest but she eventually found some work that involved relaying messages and small packages. She has a kind but guarded smile for anyone she crosses paths with when her nose isn't glued to the map she'd obtained.

[personal profile] dreamsoftomorrow 2018-03-18 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
A. Retrieval.

Hope did not expect to wake up in a cot with several other people he didn't recognize. Last he remembered, he and his friends were going into crystal stasis, their Focus fulfilled. And yet, here he was. Very much not a crystal and in a place he knew couldn't be Cocoon or Pulse. He looked at his arm, pulling back the wristband to get a better look. His frozen brand was still there, it looked just like Fang's. But it was frozen, which meant that, for now, he didn't have to worry about the time limit, if there even was one anymore.

He set the yellow cloth back in its place, where only part of the brand peeked out, and Hope slid of the cot to make his way around the place. He didn't know what to expect, who to meet, but maybe one of these people were his friends? He held his arm as he made his way around, clearly unsure, a bit lost, and not a little scared about this new predicament he was in.

B. Curti Center.

He wanted to cry. Mostly in frustration. Why him? Why were all these bad things happening to him? Hope had come a long way from the boy he was when the l'Cie business started. But it was just like his journey, he just couldn't catch a break! And now he was somehow on another world and expected to make this his new home? Was his dad even alive? Were the others here or stuck in crystal stasis? He was overcome with worry and frustration and he clutched the pamphlets and maps and information he was given. He knew he would need it later, but for right now, Hope just stood off to the side and struggled to not cry.

'It's not a question can or can't,' He could hear Lightning say. 'There are just some things in life you just do.'

It allowed him to pause and center himself, to take a deep breath. It's what got him through his journey, to see their Focus to the end. Hope would just need to see this through as well. He had to believe he could.

He unclenched the papers and held them before him. But where to even start?

C. Up in the Sky.

With so many guilds and professions to choose from, Hope wasn't sure. He was also only fourteen. Was there an age limit? Did he need to finish his schooling first? That's what he would have done were he home and not a crystal. He sighed as he leaned against the rail of the airship, his bag full of papers and essentials that he'd been given. He tapped the tip of his shoe against the wood as he struggled to figure out his next step. He supposed he could have stayed at the Curti Center, and that was always an option, but he also just... wanted to know more.

"All the time in the world and I have no idea how to spend it," He murmured to himself. He was headed to Arito, first. But after that, where to? What would he do? What should he do?

G. Get a Job (The Other Kind).

"Oh!" Hope blinked at his iMog Slate, finger pausing in his scrolling as he looked for employment opportunities. So there is schooling! The oldest you could be was 17 it looked like, so Hope would be able to fit in that bracket. Housing was provided too. He had been looking at two others, mostly working either on repairing the technology here or working in the library. But he'd been unsure if he was old enough or not. He could always ask, of course, but schooling... "I shouldn't really give up my studies just because I'm in a new world..."

He leaned back in his seat, lightly kicking his feet as he set the slate down on his lap, looking up at the sky in thought. On one hand, certain things would be paid for. On the other, he wouldn't be earning any money in the mean time. He had no parents here to take care of that while he was in school. Hope was a child on his own for now. He had learned to fend for himself in a way before, but this was an entirely different journey now.

It seems that choice paralysis is indeed a thing, with how Robin stares at all the guilds on display… and yet doesn’t make a decisive move towards any of them. A dozen options whirl away in her brain, as she tries to figure out the best choice.

There is clearly only one answer to this problem. Paper work. Large amounts of it with pros and cons listed on different pages. She has her notes slung under one arm, her other carries a blank book, and her teeth have a quill between them.

“Eschuse meh, buht-“

She pinches the quill between pages of her book, tugging it out of her mouth before continuing to speak.

“Sorry. Excuse me, but you’re looking at the guilds too? Have you gotten to try anything out yet? Wouldn’t mind knowing what you think.”

G. Jobs and Cards
It’s not just the mutterings about people needing to get jobs and contribute. It’s also about the potential she sees here; plenty of ideas and new experiences, all at her finger tips. Which is why Robin has a stack of books next to her; some relating to airships, others about law, and even a few about potion brewing… but right now she’s paging through a book on Triple Triad, and has a set of cheap cards on hand.

“Wow, people pay for this? Though… it does seem kind of interesting, too.”

She runs a thumb along the edges of the cards, fanning them and thinking out loud.

“It wouldn’t be bad to try it at least, if other people are interested in playing.”

Welcome!

[It was the cozy, curious sign outside or the smells... oh, the smells. Perhaps it was the sweet smoke of toasted sugar over freshly-made creme brulee, or it might be the melting butter as it puffs up layers of pastry for the round of pies to perk up a dreary rainy Tuesday; perhaps it's an early morning and you can smell the apples and cinnamon softening and warming a batch of muffins that begged for a cup of coffee or tea as big as your head... whatever the case, you're here for the first time or even your fiftieth.

The rumors of a "devilish baker" were amusing enough, the slight woman behind the counter wearing the flour-dusted apron paying no mind. With horns like hers and a long black tail to boot, it was nothing new to be mistaken for some sort of fiend. It was simply her lot in life as a tiefling.

But would a devil slide you just one extra slab of a lemon pound cake with a smile because she noticed you'd had a rotten day? There was everything sinful, yet everything innocent about the way the icing melted on the tongue, topping soft sweet notes to the dense bites of lemony cake.

On the counter nearest the register, however, is a peculiar sign attached to a jar filled with coins: "Tippers get a song or a haiku upon request. No takebacksies."]

[I]

Oh! Sweetheart? Do excuse me, you forgot your change-

[She took a step out of the bakery to give you what you were owed. A single step. Though she knew nothing of such creatures, she ought be glad she didn't run into a Warmech. In actuality, she'd encountered a few puddings who had decided to ooze up and beg for the opportunity to test what she'd learned among the guild... but which one?

With a flourish and a laugh, a flash of light and a rush of power, she swapped her usual purples and whites for red and black. With the flick of a wrist she prepped her rapier, and with a hop she assumed a brand new stance.

She could go without being a bard for just one day. Cue the music!]

I wonder if they'll pay me overtime for pest control...

[She gave you a wink. Are you joining in?]

Prompt A

Sorry, whatever you were doing, it was interrupted by a girlish scream as a man dressed in red and black head to toe busted out and grabbed the nearest person in a total and complete panic.

"You have to send me back!" he yelled. "I don't wanna go through another wonderful heroic adventure where everyone treats us like crap until we save the day once! I went through that once before, never again! Put me back where I belong!"

"You'll have to forgive my partner-kupo" Said a moogle flying by. He seemed to be wearing a mask similar to what the other man was doing. "This is Deadpool and I am Deadmoog. We just got through going through one adventure like this and, well... he's not happy to go through Round 2."

"Where's my Fresh Staaaaaaaart?" Deadpool whined, dropping to his knees.

Curti Center

Despite the people at the Curti Center trying to get Deadpool to understand the severity of his situation and that he has options to mess with, Deadpool is... busy look at a map of this world.

"Who named your world? It's like a bad game of Scrabble!" Deadpool said. "And these towns and oceans and..." Deadpool stops, glares and leans down at the map before looking back up and at someone. "I'm suing for Copyright Infringement."

Mognet

"Oh, you've gotta be-- even in THIS world, the Moogles are lazy and strike-prone!"

Mognet's down, Deadpool had things to do... so, he was going to march his annoyed little self down somewhere to find answers. Even if it's by threatening a Moogle with the ol' swordplay and violence.

"Alright, fuzzball - the swordsman in me is getting very prone to writing out my threat to you in flowery prose, so spit it out - why's the net down today?"

"I-I-I have no idea-kupo! I'm just a lowly Moogle!" the terrified creature said.

"Deadpool, you know that's not how we introduce ourselves!" Deadmoog replied.

"You're right. I should use a gun." And Deadmoog facepalms.

A. RETRIEVAL

Incredible...

[ looking at him now, one would hardly guess that robyn was just as disoriented and confused as any of the other new arrivals upon his awakening. but, well, waking up disoriented and confused in an entirely new environment isn't exactly a new experience for him, and he's learned to adjust.

right now he's adjusting with his face practically glued to one of the windows, craning his neck as far as he can to see as much as he can of the surrounding space. if the window weren't there, it's extremely likely (and apparent) that he'd be leaning out of it. ]

So many stars... Whoa— Look, look! Did you see that?!

[ if your character happens to be walking or milling about nearby, congratulations: this small blond hyur is going to be grabbing for their attention, literally. ]

D. GUILDS

[ there had long been word on the streets of ul'dah of an order of red mages, those who could wield a sword as deftly as the black and white arts, and robyn had only occasionally entertained fantasies of seeking them out before setting the thought aside and returning to his thaumaturgical studies. but now that he was here in this strange world, where the opportunity to take up red magic was right before him... how could he possibly pass it up? ]

Wow...

[ he's already picked up a sword — a light one-handed blade, not as flashy as some of the rapiers he's already seen around the guild, but simple enough for him to get started with — and is weighing it in his hand, marveling at how the knowledge he needs to wield it already seems to be bubbling up inside him. he adjusts his grip, takes a practice swing— ]

Oh— Sorry! [ looks like he didn't take enough care to ensure that nobody was in the immediate area before he started swinging his sword around. fortunately nobody's hurt, but if your character is in the vicinity, prepare to be apologized at. ] Sorry, I'm so sorry! I didn't hit you, did I?

A - Altitude
It's... enormous.

[Being on an airship? Well, that was nothing new; he woke up in the cabin of an airship most mornings. ...Well, okay, most afternoons. And sure, he had a few dozen questions about how he got here, why there were apparently so many... humans all around him, and where he could find the bathroom and/or snack bar below the deck. But none of those compared to the sheer, bewildering awe he felt as he peered over the ship's edge.

He'd gazed out across skies and seas of clouds for as long as he could remember; but this might have been the first time in his life he'd ever looked down and actually saw the ground below.]

And it's so clear...! Is it always like this?!

D - Aptitude
[Magic-- actual, in the raw, fireballs-on-command capital M Magic! I mean, sure, there was something KIND of like that in his world, but that was closer to prestidigitation than pyrotechnics; And, now, just the tantalizing thought of being able to unlock that potential within himself was--

Wait just a doggone second that guy is piloting a mecha and immediately Red's focus and priorities make a very sharp turn to follow him. He practically bowls over the crowd as he chases it clear to their recruitment post-- and the next thing he knew, he was in uniform and looking down the sights of his own 'Gun-blade.' And in spite of all the strangeness of this new world...]<

Piece of cake! [He gave a big, toothy grin as he rested the blade against his shoulder.] I use stuff like this all the time. Just wish they would'a let me bring my own...

I - Fortitude
[Okay, correction: This wasn't QUITE a piece of cake. You'd think facing a set of bones without muscles to move them wouldn't be TOO difficult-- heck, ask him how many bones he went through on your average day!-- but there were two things he hadn't considered about such an opponent: The first was that the lack of overall body... everything meant that actually placing a hit was a bit harder than it looked.

And the second was that a narrow gunblade could get stuck between its ribs, and leave him in a comparatively vulnerable- and frankly, quite embarrassing- spot as he tried to wrestle his own weapon free from the monster's body.]

Augh, Get your own!!

[Everyone's to take to the new world and get used to the new housing. The population exploded overnight, and rooms are few. It's only a stroke of luck that beds weren't few.

Despite your stresses, however, there is the sound of someone clearing their throat nearby. Don't look up, but down- there's some sort of creature? Man? Dressed in blue armor, clutching a pamphlet and pointing to a number upon the attached ticket. That number seems to match yours...]

Good evening, friend. It appears we're bunk mates.

[He stuck out a little gauntlet-covered hand to shake. He even tried to stand on the tips of his toes for good measure, fight to get that extra bit of height. He seemed amicable enough.]

Random Encounter

[A flash! The screen shatters! Monsters have come to interrupt your day, gobs of drool running down fangs and claws flexing in anticipation. But you're not alone, as someone arrives to your left with a little flip. When he lands, all just-about-three-feet of him, he brandishes not a sword, not an axe... but a shovel.

In the next moment, he canted his head, humming thoughtfully. So this was how it was going to be, eh? He supposed he'd been in stranger situations against odder foes.]

Strange... I was getting the mail! Well, never mind. Let's get digging!

A ship was a ship, regardless of the the look or those who found themselves sailing upon it. Bayek was none the different. He sat along a bench, hands folded together, simply listening to all those that would pass by him. It would be better to learn of those by observing. He had yet to locate his constant companion -- Senu. Until such time, he would rely on the other skills he had developed as not only a Hidden One, but as Medjay.

E.
Bayek has found himself wandering the town. It was not uncommon for him. If he were to take this city under his eyes as a Hidden One? He would need to know it. Understand it. Breathe it. Know of its lore, its culture, and what might be lurking below the surface of it all. Which meant that he had even debated the idea of joining those 'Chocobo Races', if they were to be like anything like the Hippodrome.

For now he busied himself with vantage points and secret hiding places. The ones that those in power would want shunned from the e yes of the living.

J.

Where the hell are we? I was just in my dorm like, a minute ago, 'cept it feels like I fell asleep for a million years, and now I'm in space.

[ Chocobos had taken a bit of getting used to; they ranked behind both brooms and motorcycles, but they were clever little stinkers and fast, and they got you where you need to be i.e. ancient ruins looking for loot. While it would be a stretch to say that Amanda had gotten used to Vaikuntha quickly, she'd... found things to distract herself pretty easily. Like this whole 'Red Mage' thing because apparently being a witch didn't mean crap and you had to have a 'Job' that was actually some kinda power set? Sure, it made her feel like she was dreaming after playing too many video games, but at least she could fight. ]

Loot time! Come on!

[ Having to get an honest job is a huge pain in the ass; being broke is worse. She ain't rich here, and she was starting to truly understand how good she had it with mommy and daddy's money. Despite having to follow rules, and with far fewer resources, it didn't feel... bad, though? In fact, she was pretty cheerful as a waitress - she was cute and energetic, which made her popular, and she could take care of herself if someone broke any rules, which was convenient.

Maybe you're a customer or a coworker or a boss or... whatever, but she was kinda thriving, out from under all the expectations she had to deal with back home. ]

C) WILL YOU SAIL AWAY WITH ME?

[ Ah, what's this? Someone—a regal someone with moonspun hair and flowing robes—is standing upon the taffrail of the airship, wind whipping about their frame as they look on, surveying the horizon, with but a single hand secured about the ship's rigging to anchor them in position. But for however dauntless the stance may be, there is no delinquent motive behind the pose, only quiet awe and boyish wonderment for both flight and for the craft which renders it possible. Never will this feeling grow old; never will the King forget this, the fact that advancement beyond one thousand years worth of tragedy is wholly within reach, proven achievable by the landscape before his eyes and the wind which tousles his hair.

(But only if it were not some elaborate illusion, designed by the hand of the Goddesses to entrap him. Finding proof of this is what he longs for most; what he most fears. )

Though--... He is no longer alone, is he? Footfalls sound behind him, and when he turns, he greets the newcomer with a smile, golden eyes vivid and bright as he offers a hand, fingers elegantly outstretched and palm open— ]

Join me, and tell me of your travels?

D) WHM 101

[ The white mage's guild of Lavode had not been his intended destination, but after learning of other professions (black mages, which boasted the terrifying elemental mastery of his homeland's magic knights; paladins, renown for their place at the vanguard, the gallantry of heavy armor and swords; tacticians, who read the leylines of battlefield with more skill than any other), Sion had found himself enamored with the very magic he'd never had the hands for. Mighty though his country's mages were, those enrolled in Roland's military academy were trained in offensive magics alone, healing left inaccessible to them. And how many times had he heard them upon the battlefield, pleas from wounded soldiers begging for their King to save them with his divine grace; his healing presence?

At that time, he had been able to save no one from grave injury, but--... The power he wields now will prevent such a thing from happening again. That is, after he is able to see it mastered, but for that, will he not need someone to practice on? Someone like you, who may very well be minding your own business, ambling down the street in search of Lavode's History museum. Or perhaps, you are newly returned to the city's bounds after a tiring day of exploration...? Either way, Sion is quick to call out!: ]

If I may, I would like to offer you my services as a white mage. [ AN INEXPERIENCED WHTIE MAGE... but still. ] Might you have any need for healing?

I) NOT QUITE A BOSS FIGHT

[ Altogether, it's rather cute, isn't it? A geezard which had made to attack with a targeted strike of its head. Sion, of course, had dodged, whisking away only to...! Engage the small beast in a game of 'tag', the geezard eternally, woefully 'it', for each and every time it reared back, hoping to gain momentum enough to topple the white mage, it only delineated its intended course of action, making it all the easier to evade. At the very least, Sion thinks, playing with the creature is a decent exercise in agility, leaving Sion to wonder aloud with a brisk, good-natured laugh: ]

Of course later he would start worrying about whether this experience was real or fake, but for now there were a lot of people to try and get to know, including his knew roommates! How exciting. Though, he felt a bit of pity that anyone would get stuck in the same building as him.]

My name is Komaeda Nagito, I hope we can get along for the short time we may have to be together. Hopefully nothing bad will happen to you as well.

[G. Get a Job]

[It was a little odd at first, he had gotten a Job, but now needed another one, though he supposed to be fair the first one didn't pay or anything! He was a bit at a loss at first, he had no skills and had never worked at a job in his life, what should he do? But seeing that the library needed help he was quick to see if he could take the offer. If he had to work somewhere he would rather work there.

Of course since he had no experience of any kind he was just put to help people check out their books. Not that he minded sitting at the desk. Of course he was reading the books and seemed to not be paying much attention to those in need. If you were trying to check out it takes him a moment to look up, a confused expression for a moment before an awkward smile.
]

Ah... are you checking those out?
