TEST DRIVE MEME

A. RETRIEVAL

Dreams fade slowly, and awareness returns in increments. The hum of machinery, the smell of recycled air, the murmurs of others waking up around you.

The interior of the ship has been outfitted with cots for those Biggs and Wedge retrieve from the Dream Width. Outside of the makeshift infirmary, windows set into the walls of the worn lounge area offer a view of space.

It’s time to meet your fellow new arrivals who have been brought together on Biggs and Wedge’s airship. None of you know how you came to be here or where you are going, and the door to the cockpit is locked as the pilots focus on navigating the treacherous obstacles of the Dream Width. You might as well take this moment to introduce yourself to your fellow travelers.

B. CURTI CENTER

There’s an almost overwhelming aura of excitement in the tower as researchers rush to document this unprecedented number of interdimensional travelers. Over the commotion, the leaders of the Center struggle to explain, ‘Welcome to Vaikuntha. We don’t know why you’ve been brought here, but this is your new home.’

The staff will do their best to help the off-worlders settle in. They answer the questions they can, provide maps and pamphlets about the world and the destinations within it, and even guide the arrivals to a neighborhood where housing has been provided for you. Yes, due to the strange influx of arrivals, you’ll be expected to share, but the Curti staff are doing the best they can under the circumstances.

Experiences like these bring people together. Perhaps you are the only one here from your world, but at least you are not alone in this experience. Others are right beside you, learning the same information, planning trips to visit the same new cities, checking out these Job things, and settling in to their new (temporary) homes.

C. UP IN THE SKY

There’s a whole new world to explore. It’s almost enough to distract from the fact that there’s one place you can’t go- home.

You are on an Airship, the main mode of transportation between the major cities of Vaikuntha. While the majority are owned by airlines, perhaps you hitched a ride with a friend that has their own. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

D. GUILDS

Proud representatives of the Guild are lined up, ready to demonstrate their skills for the new initiates. Make sure to stay behind the designated line, this might get dangerous.

So you want a new Job? You'll have to first travel to the Guilds, sign the papers, go through the orientation and introductory lectures, and get basic training. Afterwards, you can freely chat and practice with your fellow members, celebrating your new powers, and checking out your new wardrobe.

E. LET'S BE ADVENTURERS

Separated from all of your material possessions, connections, and everything you know, and really, what you’re left with is time. Better try to make the most of it.

Enough expository banter. It's explorin' time. Maybe instead of spending every day in your room, you'd rather spend it living it up in the city of Lavode, or betting on Chocobo Races in Sparks Goldsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the caves and ruins near Arito. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!

F. SIDEQUESTS

Maybe you’re telling yourself, ‘I didn’t sign up for this.’ But wait, you did. At least it pays.

It all started when you checked the Quest Board.  All you wanted was a few gil to spend, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or you could be asked to be janitor for a week. Consider yourself lucky though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

G. GET A JOB (THE OTHER KIND)

You’ve got a Job, but Claire keeps sighing and muttering about layabout space-people not earning their keep, so it might be time to seek out Employment as well.

There are plenty of opportunities to earn some gil in Vaikuntha, no matter where you choose to settle down. Your iMog slate includes listing for employment opportunities. Hopefully you can find something you can live with so that you can start saving up for an airship or the security payment for your permanent housing.

H. MOGNET

*Ding!* You’ve got Mog-Mail!

Thankfully, you can instantaneously chat with your friends around the world thanks to you iMog Slate. And unlike old-fashioned Moogle Letters, you can even send messages to everyone in a blink of an eye! However, despite the change in technology, the old tradition of Mognet Strikes have never gone away. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public boards or risk message corruption and mishandling.

I. RANDOM ENCOUNTER

The ground trembles, and out of nowhere, something hostile appears! Is that battle music playing?

You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Will you try to fight on your own or seek help? And remember, you die in random battle, you die FOR REAL. There’s no shame from running from enemies that are a higher level than you!

Uai | Original Character

[personal profile] ubiquitously 2018-03-19 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[A. Retrieval]

[Uai is not one of those retrieved peoples to be filled with wonderment and confusion. He's glaring daggers around the airship, judging everyone and sizing them up. Someone must be negating his magic somehow. That's the only explanation. And assumes it's one of you. He's not shy about glaring with accusing eyes until someone finally cracks, either.]

[B. Curti Center]

[It takes a while for Uai to cool down entirely. He's done tours of town, he has so many pamphlets, and he has generally done his best to become well-informed... and stay busy. He at least understands logically that he's stuck here.

It isn't until he steps into his new temporary housing that the situation finally hits him emotionally. As he gives the room a sweeping look, tears finally cloud his pink eyes. When he realizes he isn't alone here, Uai chirps (like a bird,) and claps his hands over his face.]

Sorry... Sorry. [Wiping his face, he tries to pretend no one saw that.] ... I guess we'll be getting to know each other.

[G. Get a Job]

[Being assigned to a Chocobo farm felt like a bad joke at first. Being surrounded by cute birds is just salt in his wounds. He put a lot of effort into pretending he didn't like them at first, but Uai can later be found tending to one of them affectionately.]

Ah, you're really soft. Like baby chicks. [He giggles almost girlishly.] So cute. Too bad I can't take you all home.

[If anyone sees him like this, he's going to be really embarrassed.]

Terra | Kingdom Hearts

[personal profile] wheretheresawill 2018-03-19 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
B. Curti Center

It isn't Terra's first time waking up on a strange spaceship, and though he's not sure how he ended up on this one, he thinks he knows where he is: somewhere in the Lanes Between, or else fallen into a world that happened to be nearby when...when he was thrown free of the Land of Departure. Either way, as much as he's in a hurry, he can't leave all these people alone if they're lost and confused. He should at least make sure they land safely.

So when the airship touches down, and he watches the staff flood in to explain...whatever there is to explain...to the other new arrivals, Terra considers his job done. After all, the best way to keep these people safe is to stop Xehanort from doing to this world what he did to Terra's. Right? Right. So Terra steps out of the flow of traffic, summons his Keyblade, and -

And -

Anyone else in the crowd will see a tall, muscular young man looking at his empty right hand with growing shock and horror. He even goes so far as to grab a staff member by the shoulders, demanding loudly, "What did you do to me?!"

Please, sir, control yourself. I recognize this has been a very difficult -

"You don't understand. I have to get back. If I don't, even this world-"

D. Guilds

Terra's head barely clears the ceiling in the Paladin Guildhall in Von Oktavia. It isn't ideal. Fortunately, there are human-sized swords available. Unfortunately, none of them sit in his hand as perfectly as his Keyblade should.

"I was surprised to see that there was a Guild for channeling the darkness," he says. "Don't they know that's not a good idea?" Pretty much the worst idea, in his experience. He'll be keeping a sharp eye on anyone who seems like they might be a Dark Knight.

F. Sidequests

"This looked a lot easier on paper," Terra observes, looking up at the tree that is actually both much taller and much spindlier in the branches than his mental image. At the top, a feline looks distinctly unamused at his efforts.

"Do you have any ideas?"

J. Wild Card

Recognize him? Recognize a future him? Need a knight in currently-in-need-of-repair-but-carefully-maintained armor?

Curti Center

Geez... I was kinda hoping Cape Caem would be the last time I'd have to move.

[Iris sighs as she walks around the Center, shoulders drooping slightly while she reads the various pamphlets and maps.]

I guess island living might be nice, as long as I'm stuck here anyway. Hmm, Yun'Ashia...

[Her expression brightens slightly as she reads.]

Oh, they have a chocobo farm!

Guilds

[Getting her first Job was a pretty easy decision, really - go with what you know. So Iris is standing outside the Monk Guild, watching the demonstration and waiting her turn to sign herself up.]

Monk is supposed to be the strongest Job, right? I wonder if I'll be able to bench press more than my brother if I practice hard.

[Laughing to herself, she tries her best to mimic the guild members' motions as they go through their warm-up katas. Of course, she throws in a few punches and kicks of her own, getting swept up in the energy.]

Hah! Hyaaaa!

Mognet

[During the latest outage, Iris can be found sitting on a bench tapping at her iMog in frustration and periodically shaking it up and down.]

Seriously? Again? Aren't there even any games I can play on this thing while I wait for the messaging service to come back?

Corrin | Fire Emblem Fates

[personal profile] fatefulprincess 2018-03-20 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
( A. Retrieval )

The last place Corrin expects to wake is an infirmary. She had been expecting the odd floating, sundered pieces of Valla's landmasses filling her vision. More than the disorienting feeling of not being where she should be is the worry that something could have happened to her family and friends. More specifically, Corrin frets over the last person she had been with: Scarlet. The wyvern rider had shielded her and now Corrin doesn't know whether the other woman is alive or...

It's Corrin's inability to settle down that gets her ushered into the lounge area. Of course that's where she starts to pace as well. No one seems overly willing to provide her some answers. Or maybe it's that no one actually knows why they had been drifting aimlessly in this space. She stops only to stare out the window, still worrying at her lip a little. The scenery, while beautiful and alluring, does little to alleviate the gnawing feeling of being separated from everyone else at a very critical moment.

( B. Curti Center )

[Spread out on a table are various pamphlets and maps. Anything Corrin could grab is splayed out, covering most of the surface area. Nothing's familiar, obviously, and it's probably pointless to try to find one's bearings when you have no working knowledge of these new areas or their histories. With a groan, Corrin's head hits the table.]

Azura's so much better at this than me.

[The Vallite princess always seems to know where to go or what to do next. Corrin isn't like Azura, so calm and composed. She isn't like her brothers Xander and Ryoma, confident in their choices on and off the battlefield. Takumi would probably just pick something and be stubborn enough to go with it. Leo would take hours coming up with pros and cons before making a decision.]

They make this look so easy...

( H. Mognet )

What do kupo nuts look like? Come to think of it... Where would I even find them?

[Honestly, Corrin thinks that the Moogles are just playing some sort of prank. Do these things actually exist or is she just going on a wild goose chase?]

One of the Moogles told me they'd stop the strike if they get some kupo nuts.

( Wildcard )

[Anything goes!]

Retrieval

[Amid the many new arrivals, there's one that doesn't seem to be in any rush to wake up. In fact, she's got the pillow over her face, mumbling into it.]

Ugh... morning already? It's still dark out...

Sidequests

Excuse me, I need to find a...

[She checks the note she took down from the quest board.]

...cactuar needle?

[At the mere mention, the person she was asking makes some excuse and quickly walks off in the other direction. Kawakami simply sighs, shaking her head.]

That's the third person in a row! What's so scary about these needles?

Get A Job

[They wouldn't let Kawakami teach, and there's really only one other thing she knows how to do, sooooo...]

Hiiiiii~! ♥ What can I get for you today?

Up In The Sky

[Moana's excitedly running around above deck, leaning over the side to see the world below.]

We're sailing on the clouds! This is incredible! What kind of boat is this?

Let's Be Adventurers

[The airship was pretty cool, but Moana feels way more at home on the open ocean. And she can even navigate without the Astrologer Job! Unfortunately, she couldn't afford a very large boat, but it doesn't seem to bother her at all.]

Don't worry. Everything will be fine as long as we listen to the waves. They'll tell us where to go.

[Smiling warmly, she leans over the side of the boat to glide her hand along the top of the water.]

Random Encounters

Get back, I'll handle this one!

[Thank goodness oars seem to work as well as actual staves for the Stave Master Job. Leaping into the fray, she brings it down atop the head of whatever monster she and her party are facing down.]

A : Retrevial

[ While some people are quick to wake up, Seth is not one of them. She's stilled bundled up on the cot in a little ball trying her best to try and sleep. The unfortunate little bits of commotion seems to stir her enough to roll towards the edge of the bed, one arm lazily thrown over it. ]

Whose there...? [ barely awake and eyes still closed she groans. She doesn't seem set on waking up and acknowledging the real world yet. ] Mirka, I don't want to play dress up. It's too early.

[ Someone might want to actually explain what's going on here. She's not here yet at all. ]

D: Guilds

[ What else can a person do in a strange land other than try to adapt? Seth is all about these "jobs". She's pretty hard to follow as she's ran between every guild that interests her. Mages, ninja, but finally she decides on something a little different.

Seth takes dragoon. Once she's in the armor with a lance in hand she raises it up to the sky with a grin. Ignore the decorative spikes on her they're just an accent piece.
]

For stealing me from my home I'll admit this is pretty cool.

[ She's going to turn the closest person to her with a confident smirk. ]

What do you think? Think these jobs make up for the weirdness?

G: Getting another job...almost

[ She found out about more pamphlets and she is trying to keep up that lie she had back at home. So she has a few about various schools. In reality she is more than old enough to have gone through countless various programs. She's got to play pretend.

She's seated on a bench with the pamphlets laid out open on what space she has left on it.
]

I wonder which one of these have a program like the one back home. Does this world even have college? If it doesn't I'm going to be in trouble...I don't want to fall behind in my studies.

[ So she lets out a loud, melodramatic sigh complete with a exaggerated throwing her arms up in the air. ]

The tragedy of it all! Plucked before I can even finish school!

[ She's being a drama queen. ]

A. RETRIEVAL

[ to be so near the brink of death in one moment, and so far from it in the next... at first, gabranth honestly isn't sure that he hasn't passed it entirely; the interior of this airship is so different from the strahl that he almost thinks it a fevered delusion, a vision conjured by his dying mind. but the vision does not fade, and neither does the sensation in his limbs, nor anything else about him.

somehow, improbably, he is not dead.

he sits upright on his cot, blood-soaked leathers and all, and ponders that fact. he remains there as he ponders the improbability of it, tries to make sense of all that's happening around him, listens in to the people chatting and milling about nearby. at some point, he's going to have to get up and look into the whereabouts of his swords and armor. for now, though... his body might be healed but his wounds are still fresh in his mind, and so too is the question of why he continues to be alive. ]

F. SIDEQUESTS

[ right. now that gabranth has been in this world long enough to learn a few things about it — perhaps most importantly that he won't be going back to ivalice, at least not anytime soon — he supposes that the only thing for him to do is to start fitting into it.

he also supposes that the best way for him to do that is to make himself useful. as a result, he's wasted no time between enlisting in the paladin's guild, finding the nearest job that needs doing, and heading straight off into the wilds with whichever hapless adventurer happened to have also signed up for this particular quest. collect a bundle of coeurl whiskers... simple enough, he thinks. but that likely depends more on his companion than anything else. ]

A. The Grump Awakens

[Wincing eyes and blurry visions greet the boy as he rises from this unknown stupor. A gloomy hand raises to his temple as he fights off the tell-tale signs of a headache. As consciousness begins to drift into him, his eyebrows furrow. The aether was strange, he thought. Or, rather, he couldn't feel the aether at all. The feeling was strange, like a thousand silent bells ringing simultaneously. He lets out an exasperate sigh as his vision extends out to his surroundings. Nope, none of this was familiar. And the rising annoyance in the pit of his stomach started to make him feel that nothing about his presence circumstances was going to be pleasant.]

To whom do I owe this slice of fresh hell? My boot has a few choice words to say to their face.

B. The Grump Strikes Out

[Despite his earlier statements, Palom listens to the staff's description of his predicament with quiet deference, although his face scrunched like he just sucked a lemon. Sure, they were annoying, but even at his most bothered he knows not to shoot the messenger. Still, there is one point that really bothers him:]

So, instead of finding out about why people are being displaced from their homes, time, and space, you have decided that it is better to just make their lives comfortable. Are you cowards, or do you just have a lot of lumber that you aren't using.

[A hand comes to his hip, knowing that venting wouldn't get him anywhere.]

Alright, look. I just have one question. Have you heard anybody else mention the city of Mysidia? I want to know if anybody else- [survived. No, he decides to end it there and draws his gaze around to anybody that was listening in.] Well?

D. The Grump Strikes Back

[He could handle the new situation. He could handle the cheery chattering heads that were way too happy for the predicament. But the one thing he absolutely could not stand--?]

I know all of that. I told you once already, I have been a Black Mage before. I AM a Black Mage. You have not heard, because you are in this backwater location and take in any adle-brained adventurer that happens to go through those doors, but you are not talking about a novice. I do NOT need training. I could probably train YOU. So just give me that darn magic stone and point me in the direction of a cave that needs clearing out and I will overlook this embarrassing scene.

[Gee, Palom, why do you think that's not working? Regardless, he is folding his arms and leaning in with a death glare as an annoyed foot taps rhythmically on the ground.]

Baiken | Guilty Gear

[personal profile] garyoutensei 2018-03-20 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ a - when everyone around is dreaming ]

-Not every break from the Dream Width was a pleasant one, especially given the nightmares some dwelled within. The one armed woman that had been picked up was definitely one of them, and despite efforts to calm her down, things were getting chaotic very quickly. She was more like a wild animal in the way she lashed out, kicking away one of the infirmary workers who was trying to restrain her. It seemed despite her condition, she wasn't exactly having trouble fighting off the orderlies, but...-

Where am I?! Where's my sword!? -Something had to calm her down, or she might end up seriously hurting someone else in her panic...-

[ b - sit before you upon a throne of scars ]

-Well she's calmed down, at least. But the aura given off by the woman as she enters the room still isn't exactly personable. Particularly given she had to be restrained during parts of the trip, and only in the last moments did she finally seem to accept her lot in life enough to not want to violently lash out at others. Her mouth was drawn into a thin line, and her gaze seemed locked into a void, not really looking at anyone or anything, but didn't seem to be spacing out, either...

She sat herself down, not on a chair but on the floor, with a slump, crossing her legs and leaning against the wall, drawing in a long, deep breath before instinctively reaching into her kimono for a pipe that... still wasn't there. And thus she found herself in a situation where, despite the aura she'd held since entering the room, she had to speak.-

... Anyone got any tobacco?

[ g - our war machine rolls on ]

-By hook or by crook, Baiken had managed to at least get three items she definitely needed in the immediate moment. A kiseru-style pipe, a wine cask, and a katana. They weren't hers, a fact that still deeply frustrated her, but they were there, and she felt a little less naked in this new world she'd found herself lost within. But some things never seemed to change, and after outfitting herself with what she thought of as necessary gear, she became much more aware of the fact that she was... pretty much penniless. And booze and tobacco didn't just come freely.

But, as a vagabond, this wasn't necessarily new territory for her. She had too much pride to beg, so it meant seeking out work. And given her skill set, it meant some pretty specific types of work...

She sat on the ground on a busy thoroughfare, pipe between her lips, and a crudely made sign in front of her. The sign read:-
Bodyguard For Hire.
Assassinations Negotiable.
-Oh...-
[ h- gather all y'all trekkies and tv addicts ]

[ A – Retrieval ]

[It's a little disorienting, the strange smell in the air that reminds Aqua of the Deep Space, the humming sound of machinery when she has been lost in Darkness for so long, when all she remembers is… Terra. Terra talking to her, and then that Dweller of Darkness grabbing her and Ven and pulling them away from him…

(Terra is fighting Xehanort still, she isn't sure where, but of this she is certain.)

Aqua sighs quietly in her cot before she forces her eyes open and turns her head to catch a glimpse of her surroundings… huh. How strange… it doesn't look like the Dark World at all. Then she sits up, her hand immediately reaching for the Wayfinder that she usually keeps in the pocket by her skirts… only that that pocket is empty.

…She must have lost it.

And she can't linger on that, no matter how much that loss hurts her – the Wayfinder is the physical proof of her connection to Terra and Ven after all. Finally she gets up, determination flickering across her face as she pushes to her feet, her hands clenching.

If she hasn't become one with the Darkness, if Terra is fighting Xehanort to protect Ven… then she has no right to give up now, even if she has only ended up in another fallen world (though, strangely enough she doesn't recognize this one…).

Aqua is quiet as she explores the ship, startled by the presence of so many people beside her… and after a moment, she dares to reach out to touch the shoulder of the person next to her... will they disappear if she touches them?]

[ D – Guilds ]

[Aqua has read plenty about the different types of jobs – she has no doubt that she should take care in what she chooses for now… and it hasn't taken long for her to find a job that seems to suit her skills rather well. She prepared well for the trip to Lavode and now that she's done with the papers and gotten her Red Mage asterisk, it's time for basic training!

She can't help a faint smile of nostalgia as she brings up her practice blade, and she can't help but wonder… how many years has it been since those last practice matches with Terra and Ven at the summit of the Land of Departure?]

It's been too long to count, since I practiced my skills like this. But maybe going back to the basics isn't so bad...

[ F – Sidequests ]

[Well, the paper said that the local merchant would like a couple of Wind Crystals, so here Aqua is looking for something called… a cockatrice? Some sort of bird probably?

Well, Aqua has no problem going on this little quest, but the job information says to face them as a pair. Well then, it's time to find herself a partner!]

You might see his large physique scurry past you or feel him bump into you, you may hear mumbles of "Sorry!" or "Pardon me!" or... the sound of him vomiting into a nearby trashcan.

He lets out a dejected whine. ]

No... alas, calzone, my stomach hardly knew you.

D) Guilds

[ People always say if you have a Job you like, you never work a day in your life! So as soon as he read the Job list, he knew deep in his heart what to pursue. ]

Option 1: Gourmand
[ Hunk always loved cooking. When it came down to it, it was really just engineering but with biological components, a little chemistry, and a lot of artistry. But now, he could get weird magical powers from cooking. That's like eating a fish and getting to breathe underwater, straight out of some kind of video game!

Asterisk in his possession, Hunk knows full well he'd need to know how to cook the beasts of this land before trying, so he's found himself a nice table, some cookbooks and bestiaries to thumb through, and a loaf of bread he's practicing some pretty solid knife work on. But after a few moments, he sighs and groans. ]

You've got to be kidding me, I'm actually supposed to beat monsters with this thing?!

Option 2: Magitek Knight
[ Outside the kitchen, Hunk was an engineer through and through. Gunslinger was tempting, but he was terrified by the idea of running out of ammo in the middle of a fight with a giant monster. But the Magitek Knight was as close as he could get to practical applications of Vaikunthan engineering, and then he could learn and train.

The whole "gunblade" thing isn't really his speed though, and boy does it show. His swordplay is amateurish at best, with exaggerated swings and stumbles. He's a better shot with the magitek bullets, cycling between the elements on this poor training dummy. Fire. Water to put out the fire. Ice to freeze the water. Fire to melt the ice. Lightning to shock the water...

But the shot goes wide, hits a fence post, and chars it black. ]

Jeez. I don't know how Lance does it, I was always more of a spray and pray guy...

I) Random Encounter

[ You're walking through a field, and off to your right is... an embarrassing sight. Hunk is running in circles in the middle of a field of flowers, being chased by a Geezard. He sees you, and begins waving his arms over his head while shouting. ]

Heeeelp! Please? I dropped my knife and can't find it and apparently just kicking this ugly thing won't stop it!

[ There might have been a bit of a sniffle at the end of that question. ]

Naoto Shirogane | Persona 4 Golden

[personal profile] pishirogane 2018-03-21 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
[A. Retrieval]

[Coming around in a daze like most everyone else, Naoto shakes it off quicker than most - well, attempts to at least appear as though she has. However, the alarm at something being very wrong does help her get her wits about her; enough that she can get out of her cot and walk out of the 'infirmary'. There's other people outside, but they aren't priority first. Instead, it's the window which - once she reaches - she could be found staring fixedly out, slowly putting the pieces of her fragmented memories back together. It looks like she could probably use a distraction.]

[D. Guilds - Gunslinger]

[It's simple enough to understand the processes of getting a Job once it's been explained, and once she hears there's a Job called 'Gunslinger', it isn't hard for one to find her quickly seeking that Guild out. It was familiar, and if she wanted to attempt another Job, she'd already have at least one under her belt.]

[Tark Varentain - she doesn't know what to expect on arrival, but she finds herself getting along... fairly well with those that live there. Serious, guarded, cautious... It isn't long at all before she's officially considered a Gunslinger and left to see whom else is part of the Guild.]

[F. Side Quests]

[Naoto wasn't fond of remaining idle. Even while waiting for prospective employment back home, she always had something to do until the next case arose. But in this world, there wasn't anything just yet... so she took a Side Quest. Ten Zadon Leather which was simple enough, but scouring up and down the beach, where were the Zadon?]

Tch... [Had someone else taken the quest? Had they migrated? Maybe they were attacking a vessel. No matter the reason, Naoto could be seen stalking up and down the beach trying to find these creatures.]

[I. Random Encounter]

[Scowling, her eyes scan between the several enemies before her. They're only Gargoyle, but that's the problem. They are Gargoyle... it's never one with this group apparently, but this is also her first time encountering them personally. Armed and prepared to fight, back-up would certainly be preferred to avoid this battle ending unfavorably.]

B. Curti Center

[This wasn't Shinji's first time in an alternate universe. Or his second. Maybe it was his third? He couldn't keep track of the inter-universe travel any more, which was probably the clearest sign it had happened way too often. Still, getting ripped out of one world and placed into another was disorienting and, more than that, it was upsetting. Sure, he had made a promise that he'd keep living and moving forward, but having to start from scratch was beginning to piss him off.

He realized what had happened shortly after waking up on the strange airship and had completely withdrawn during the trip. Even now, he doesn't seem to be listening to the center staff trying to explain everything to him, instead staring down at his hand, like he's suddenly expecting something to change.

He felt mostly the same as when he left- not that he knows how long ago that might have been, with time/space travel - but he's completely human again. Not that it makes him feel better.]

No. I get it. [When he does speak it's curt and abrupt, angry not at the people trying to help but at this whole situation.] I'm stuck in another world and can't get back to my old one. I get it. Thanks. [He yanks the pamphlet away and turns to storm out...running directly into someone else on the way. Hope your character enjoys colliding with a short shitty teenager.]

D. Guilds

[Even if Shinji had little interest in adventuring and about as little in superpowers as the last time he had them, this whole cowlick situation was untenable. He looked like an idiot and he could just imagine Asuka's voice laughing at him every time he reached up and touched it.

That said, "get a Job" was as far as he had made it in the decision making process and the actual choice was difficult. Gunslinger and Magitek Knight seemed as close to the combat he actually knew from piloting the Evangelion as he could get, but something about Gourmet was appealing. He already liked cooking for people more than he liked shooting things, so it was a natural fit, right?

He felt that way all through reading the Gourmet guild's brochure until he reached a certain skill.]

Excuse me. [He turns to the nearest person.] This "Devour" move. Is that...what I think it is? [Please don't be what he thinks it is.]

F. Let's Be Adventurers

[Shinji stirs the cooking pot sitting over the campfire, his comically large weaponized fork leaning against the log he's sitting on. He'd never been camping with others before, and definitely not in a dense forest like this, but he had to admit that it was actually pretty fun. He didn't know the other members of his party particularly well, having been asked to join at the last second, but they seemed nice enough. Hopefully the stew will be enough for him to earn his keep, and hopefully they don't ask which of the monsters they defeated earlier ended up providing the meat for it.]

Hey guys, it's ready!

G. Get A Job (The Other Kind)

[Working at the library was about as relaxing as a job could be. Shinji had worked in retail enough in his last world to know he never ever wanted to do it again, and getting paid to silently organize books and put them on shelves was infinitely better. Sure, he had to learn an entirely new book organization system, but at least he was able to pick out anything that might look interesting to read for himself later. He's so busy reading the back of a particularly interesting looking novel that it takes him a few seconds to realize someone's trying to get his attention.]

Mm? Oh, sorry, I was- [Don't say you were spacing out idiot they'll think you're bad at this job] I mean. Hi. Uh, Can I help you?

[Makoto's hands clench as he hears the explanation that is being provided. A part of the tension was fear. Another part was anger at their present situation. She wasn't completely trusting of these people. True, there was no reason for them to lie, but then she wasn't sure what to make of these circumstances. A new world? Her previous one destroyed? Lodgings and accommodations? Honestly, it was too much to take in and she was worried for her sister. She was worried for her team. She was worried for her home and everything they went through.]

[But she could put that aside. For now. She should be thankful that the people were being so accommodating. For now. Still...]

I see. So, everything is gone, and there is absolutely no way that we can go back? [She sighed.] I appreciate everything you are doing, but a part of me also wonders what the people of Vaikuntha get in this exchange. I don't mean to be rude when you've been so helpful, but a little transparency here would go a long way to help ease my worries.

C. Up in the Sky

[Not long after her chat, Makoto quickly decided that there was nothing to do but aimlessly wander. A swift hand followed grounded her to the side of the wall as she contemplated. The wall lead her to the top deck her eyes widen at the sight that she could see.]

[A whole world stretched out in front of her. The trees, valleys, rivers and lakes seemed to dance underneath a steady sky of blue and white clouds. She had flown before, yes, but it was nothing like this. She bravely reached for the railing on the side and took it all in.]

Wow... its beautiful...

[The view was so beautiful that she couldn't even feel the teardrops wetting her cheeks.[

D. Guilds(?)

[While many would be thrilled by the idea of taking on a job and sling around magic or start wearing armor, Makoto was in a rut. There were just so many different options. Many of them seemed so fantastical too, which was only making things doubly confusing. So, instead of entering into the guild halls and receiving an asterisk, the honor student was sitting on a bench pouring over a guide pamphlet that describes each of them.]

A Tactician sounds like it would be one possibility, but its power seems pretty weak. I also considered a Paladin, but... can I really go around wearing heavy armor?

[She leans into the pamphlet, her eyebrows furrowing as she continues.] I have done some Akido, but would that really make me a Monk? Or maybe I should be a Gunslinger because I've shot a revolver?

[She folded the book into her lap with a huff, giving up for now.] I'm getting nowhere fast like this...

H. Mognet

[After everything that she had saw and did today, there was one thing that was bothering her. Yes she found her lodgings, and a part of her was getting some idea of the job that she would want, but there was something more important. If only there was a way to reach them.... oh!]

[Remembering where the mognet board was (and ignoring the fuzzy little creatures that were gripping of a moogle's right to a 4-hour work day) Makoto pinned up one message with a poorly drawn logo]

[A smile spreads on her face. They're out there. She knows it. And everything will start again with that message: a standard of hope in the darkest of circumstances.]

No, no, no, no, go away! I changed my mind! I don't want to fight!

[ Tomoko... isn't exactly missing a fighting spirit, to be fair. She can pick fights. She can yell a lot! She's definitely bitten a few people in her time. That, however, heavily depended on how afraid versus how mad she was at any given time and out on the road, all alone, when a geezard rushes her?

Yeah, that's more afraid than mad. The bright side is she's figured out one of her current Job's best skills: leaping really damn high. Meaning she's leapt up into a tree. Yeah, that's right, there's now a tiny dragoon holed up in the branches of a tree, clutching her weapon rather than, y'know, using it. She's stuck there, too, since the creepy monster at the base of the trunk won't go away (and she hasn't considered just leaping away over it, so...)
]

Just leave! Leave me alone! Shoo!

The torso of the robot slumped, slightly, then sat up - ‘whrr’ing again as the machine began to click and surge to life. A mask-like face revealed large eyes, the green leds beginning to shine brighter. Panels opened and closed over the lenses, the covers dividing in an ‘x’ shape.

Orisa is Online.” The second time the robot spoke, the voice was warm - comforting, even. Her accent and vocal processors colored her words equally as she looked from side to side around the cabin.

Efi…?” Another pair of blinks.

Why were all these people staring at her. Meekly, the robot raised her hand and waved.

Hello, citizen. Would you be able to tell me the current day, time and location we are in?

[G.Get A Job]
Orisa had been slightly frustrated and worried that no one here had seen Efi and if what they were saying was true, that there was no way to get back to her. However, her own feelings should not and would not take away from her duties; Efi created her to protect people and keep them safe.

Her first assignment, once the officers in the department realised that she was quite sentient, was to guard a crosswalk. Which was just as good, it was what Efi started with back home in Numbani. She just had to remember to be careful when she blocked the road for pedestrians in order to avoid what Efi had explained was collateral damage. Being seven feet tall and the better part of a ton meant that delicacy and awareness was important.

Hello! Do you require assistance using the crosswalk today?

‘Welcome to Vaikuntha. We don’t know why you’ve been brought here, but this is your new home.’

[Adrien doesn't know what to make of that when he first hears it, but it's not abating his panic. He's always up for an adventure, but just ones that he knows he can go home from after. This... he's mixed in a crowd of similarly confused people attempting to get their bearings once they're off the ship and being ushered around. There are questions around, maps, pamphlets, but he can't ask the one important to him.]

[Frowning, he looks down at the ring on his right hand and stares quietly at the empty silver face looking back. No Paris, no Plagg... no Ladybug, and no Chat Noir. He's not alone here maybe, but he's on his own for the first time, and he's not sure how to process that. He'll have to pull himself together though because that's certainly another body occupying that space he's accidentally walked into.]

S-Sorry...

[C. Up in the Sky]

[It's nice to be in the air again, but looking outside is a reminder that it's different. Still, that's part of the reason he's heading to Nakagawa. He's going to learn more about his Job and master it. He's going to learn more so he can survive and help others until there's a way to go home. He needed to and if he gave up, he would surely be disappointing someone.]

... Thank you for the ride again. You're sure you're not going to get in trouble for this?

[E. Let's Be Adventurers]

[Now that he's been here for a while, Adrien's become more open to traveling. It helps when one is finally not sweating the details of the small stuff and is also prepared for the wilds when traveling by land to the next destination. Or maybe it's being a Swordmaster that's made him a little more eager. Either way, his eyes are bright and he's grinning.]

Ready to go?

[G. Get a Job (The Other Kind)]

[Of all the things, why was this the hardest? Sidequests were good and all, but they weren't a stable way to make income. Given his age, he should just worry about schooling, but what he could learn there for this world, he knows he could learn just as well by venturing. That, and he could brush up on history in his own time.]

[Or maybe right now. He thought there would be more people coming to the Library, but it's pretty slow... and quiet... and a little boring Taking a quick look around, he pulls over one of the recently returned book and opens it to start reading.]

Getting to their feet and stumbling through the crowd, the strange, yellow-skinned child with brown hair and a pink shirt that proudly proclaims "COOL DUDE!" stumbles through the crowd, muttering, "Sorry, excuse me, coming through, looking for a skeleton, has anybody seen a skeleton? Where am I anyways? Who are all you- Woah!" Frisk comes to the window and gawks out at space. It was at times like this that they wished that they hadn't been so stubborn about getting glasses.

Frisk wanders outside the Curti Center, wincing at the bright sunlight. After three days Underground, it would take some time to get used to natural light. Too busy staring out at the streets and the variety of fantastic individuals casually strolling down the lanes, Frisk trips over somebody's shoes. They pry their face off the ground and look up at whoever they tripped over, smiling cheesily. "Are you gravity? Because I'm falling for you," they say, waggling their eyebrows and making finger guns.

"Nope nope nope nope nope!" This isn't the first time Kaji has woken up like this, only this time, without the mysterious voice. Pockets are completely empty but the airship is familiar. Sort of.

"Ib?" He rolls off the bunk and starts down the hallway before he is completely on his feet, so he staggers sideways some.

"IB!?" Not quite to panicking yet, but NO. Not again. He already dealt with her falling into Crystal once.

Kaji will ask the first person that he sees before he even pays attention to who it is. "Excuse me. Have you seen a teenage girl? Long brown hair, reddish eyes?"

Kaji is talking to the Lalafell patiently, but as if he already knows what he's doing. Yes, Scholar, thank you, no, I don't need the hat, yes I realize it is part of the Job equipment, it's just going in my closet or on my moogle.

But things are working a little differently here. Close enough to what he's used to. And isn't it a laugh that he's used to it? But does he go with what Crystallis picked out for him, and find the Ranger's Guild? Or change it up?

That makes Chara wish they truly were alone. After their...fall, after everything, they had never wanted to go back in anyway. They had just wanted to stay with the monsters, had found how oddly happy they could be, or at least close to happy they could be, with the monsters, and Chara would never understand why the monsters would want to go back to the surface. Would want to have to deal with humans again. Nothing would change when they did; they'd just be driven back again, if not wiped out fully. In the years since their exile, human technology had grown. Monsters technology had too, had probably outpaced human technology at that.

But humans would still always be the ones better at killing.

They keep their hoodie a bit tighter around them as they watch the infinite miles of the void pass below. They try to keep to themselves, but inevitably, someone is going to come up to them. And when they do, they just turn around. And put on a smile and the most relaxed expression they can.]
